Hobo Haven, our family-built home named after our beloved dog Hobo, is a charming log cabin located on two acres on Lake Gaston in Bracey, Virginia. Our three story, three bedroom, three bath home is a classic log cabin, featuring plank hard wood floors, wood beam ceilings, and, of course, beautiful hand-hewn log walls. Our home boasts three covered and one uncovered decks, all with beautiful views of the lake. It also features a large screened-in porch, perfect for eating lunch on a warm summer day. These covered outside spaces allow you to enjoy the outdoors even in the case of bad weather. The fully equipped, open concept kitchen is ideal for preparing any meal, and features a dining room table with seating for ten, perfect for a lovely family dinner. Even on a cool autumn or winter day, cozy up next to one of two beautiful stone fireplaces, one located in the kitchen, the other in the second story family room area. Despite being a rustic log cabin, Hobo Haven still has standard modern luxuries we’ve come to expect, including three 32-inch and two 50-inch flat screen TVs, cable, telephone, air conditioning, and heat. Bedroom/sleeping Details: \* Bedroom One- Master (Second Floor)—1 Queen bed, with access to outside covered deck and bathroom. \* Bedroom Two—(Third Floor)—1 Queen bed, one twin bed \* Bedroom Three—(Third Floor)—1 Queen bed, 1 toddler bed, 1 crib, with direct access to bathroom \* One queen pull out on second floor living space \* Two twin bunk beds on second floor living space nook with curtains for privacy \* One high quality, queen, blowup mattress is included. There is plenty of floor space available, if you’d like to bring additional air mattresses. \* Convertible couch on bottom level that can be used as additional sleeping space for 2 adults \* Full couch on second floor living space Public boat launch is minutes away, both driving and by water, at the Holly Grove Marina. A huge sun deck above the lifts provides amazing, panoramic water views and great sunning opportunities. Water depth off the dock is about 14 feet, plenty deep for diving, swimming, floating and fishing. Water depth at the steps going into the water is between 3-4 feet deep, making it easy for children and pets to get in and out of the water. Please keep in mind, this rental does not include a boat. Boat rentals are available on the lake. Nearby attractions and conveniences: • 2 minutes away from Holly Grove Marina (food, drink, bait/tackle, boat launch, gas, air, etc.) • 20 minutes away from Food Lion, ABC store, Wal-Mart and several fast food and more upscale dining options—all located in South Hill, Virginia • 7 minutes away from Rosemont of Virginia Winery • 5 minutes away from Tanglewood Shores Golf and Country Club • 11 minutes away from River Ridge Golf course • 20 minutes away from Pino’s Pizza, Food Lion, ACE Hardware, etc. all in Littleton, NC • 5 miles from Interstate 85 providing easy access to nearby cities and towns • Close access to the Tobacco Heritage Trail and Liberty Hill Hiking Trail We prefer rentals to be from Friday-Friday. \*Additional holiday booking fees may apply. We've had five weddings and one engagement take place on our property, and we love the idea of sharing our home for these special life moments. The house was decorated for Christmas which was really nice for our holiday stay. While it wasn't warm enough for us to be outside for most of our time here, we did use the fire pit and loved ours views of the lake from virtually every room. The double living areas were much appreciated, along with the full bathrooms on all 3 floors. Great place to get away from the everyday world! ##### Rick R. Katie the cleaning person was so helpful when we arrived…was a long ride from DE and she allowed us early to use the bathrooms and asked if we needed anything! The host was excellent in their communication and responsiveness. We all fell in love with the location of the property and the ease of access to the lake. Our group had planned to keep the kids entertained by going out to get ice cream etc.; however, the kids had so much fun on the lake we never had to leave the house (other than a run or two to the store). There is a dollar general market very close by and a Walmart not too far. Looking forward to making this an annual stay with our friends/family group. ##### Jonathan T. The log cabin is stunning and the views are lovely. There are so many sitting options and so many places to cast a line. Boat ramp is super close and easily accessible which was wonderful in allowing us to keep our boat tied up in the dock. Upstairs sun deck was a perfect place to sit back, enjoy a beverage and enjoy the view. ##### Carly C. This was the equivalent of a close family member giving you the keys to their lake home. It's not a hotel -- you're on your own to maintain cleanliness while you stay there - but you're free to use anything they have on offer. We stayed for six days, cooking huge family dinners, sitting out at the fire bowl, napping in our respective corners, enjoying time on the covered decks and watching the wildlife in and around the lake. The owners were ultra-communicative -- very responsive but not intrusive - before, during, and after our stay. The home is gorgeous; the photos of it and the surrounding property do not do it adequate justice. If you're a home cook, you can make just about anything if you are resourceful. We made lasagna, breakfast casseroles, and even beef Wellington! Wi-fi signal was good and strong, as some of us had to handle some work emergencies and did so with no issues. Indoor heat was not an issue at all, but you have to follow the excellent directions given by the owners. We were very cozy during our stay when nights could be very cold but days could be anything from sunny and warm to rainy, chilly and damp. Plenty of clean and cozy throw blankets to drape on your lap while watching TV or reading a book. We were accompanied by our clean, well-behaved large-breed dogs, and they loved the property as well. These owners are kind, good, and generous folks. It was a privilege to spend our family holiday at their home. The memories will last a lifetime. ##### Francine S. Some bedroom doors wouldn't close becuase the handles were broken but easily worked around. The only thing i am not a fan of was originally we were told that laundry would be a $50 fee if we didnt have time to complete it and understandable price for convenience and then right before check in it said in the check out instructions that the luandry fees would be $150 so we brought our own sheets to avoid a fee. I would almost rather have them not supply the sheets at all at that point. Great house good host but luandry fee is ridiculous bring your own sheets ##### Melissa/Owen M. We had a wonderful vacation once again. As we've stated before, it's a little bit of a country feel but on the lake. Fishing was awesome! Grandkids had a blast swimming and fishing!
