About this property
Cabin By Blue Ridge Parkway
Welcome to Creek Sound Chalet!
Creek Sound Chalet is a charming and comfortable 2-bedroom/2.5-bathroom cabin in Blowing Rock on a large, wooded property bordered by a rushing creek. Only 5 miles from downtown Blowing Rock, and even closer to Moses Cone Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway, Creek Sound is also close to Boone, Banner Elk, Valle Crucis, Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, Beech Mountain Ski Resort, and Hawksnest Snow Tubing and Zip Lines. Although tucked quietly and privately away, all that the High Country has to offer is a short drive away!
The main level features an open great room and kitchen with a dining area. This area boasts vaulted tongue-and-groove ceilings, leather furniture, dining for up to 8 guests, a wood-burning fireplace, and an HDTV with satellite programming. There is a half bath down the hallway for convenience. The king master suite is on this level, with an HDTV, an ensuite bathroom with jetted Jacuzzi-style tub and a separate shower, and a Juliette deck with log rocking chairs.
Downstairs has a den and game room with a shuffleboard table, a leather double sleeper sofa, HDTV, and a gas fireplace. A second full bathroom and laundry room with a washer and dryer are off the den, as is a second king bedroom with an HDTV and log furniture.
Creek Sound has exceptional outdoor living and entertaining space. Just off of the backside of the cabin is a rustic, wood-burning fire pit, and a short walk past the fire pit is a stand-alone wood patio overlooking the creek and into pristine, mature woods. A side door from the den leads out to a private, covered side porch with a hot tub, and on the front of the lower level is a huge covered deck with a porch swing, rustic wood deck furniture, and ample space to spread out. Off the front of the main/upper level is another large, covered deck with a hammock and an outdoor dining table, looking down towards the creek and the mature woods and seasonal mountain views. There is a gas and a charcoal grill, and an outdoor dining table as well.
Creek Sound Chalet provides digital satellite programming on all four HDTVs, a fireplace in each living area, gas downstairs and wood upstairs, wireless internet, and a new Central Heating and Air Conditioning system. The creek is accessible below, and the woods around are ripe for exploring! Downtown Blowing Rock is just a few minutes away with lakes and hiking trails, a waterfall, a town park, a swimming pool, and fantastic shopping and restaurants!

The usually exaggerated drive times in VRBO listings are actually accurate for this property. It really is close to everything to do in the Boone/Blowing Rock area. Great balcony for the dogs. Absolutely no traffic noise. Nice kitchen and living area on the second floor. Don't be scared of the driveway, it is not that bad. We will be staying here again.
We loved the area. The sights and sounds of nature were exactly what we were looking for. The cabin was tidy and had all the conveniences of home and then some. The only issue we had was trying to get inside. I think there is a misunderstanding as to the type of lock on the cabin versus the instructions received, which seems to be a consistent issue. However, after reaching out to the rental company they were able to get us in quite quickly. The driveway is steeper than it looks in the picture so I’m glad we rented a Jeep for the trip. I wouldn’t try to drive my sedan up that hill. There was just enough parking for our Jeep and our friend’s truck with limited space to maneuver. I think that helps to limit guests to those who want peace and serenity and not those who like to party. Crazy as it sounds, a driveway space like that in my book is a perk. Again, beautiful cabin in a beautiful spot!!
Nice, clean cabin. Do NOT use guide given to open door. Use the code given, but DO NOT TOUCH the numbers or any buttons to "wake" the numbers (and "waving your hand" does nothing with this older school touchpad). Just punch in your 6 digit code and then press the lower left "check" button, and it works fine. Pushing any one of the buttons when leaving will lock the door. If, after connecting to the WIFI with the code given, you do not have an internet connection, just turn off your phone's wifi button and turn it back on, then it worked fine. Note that if it's hot outside, the a/c works great, but the lower bedroom has no a/c vent in it, but leaving the door open works fine.
We stayed at this property for a quick trip to go snowboarding. The house was very spacious and slept all 5 in my party very comfortably. The drive way was very steep and the neighborhood roads were a little sketchy in the snow. Unless you have 4 wheel drive I would not recommend visiting in snow. They neighborhood nor driveway were ever plowed. We also picked this property for the hot tub. When we arrived the hot tub was not on. We tried turning it on, and it started heating up and then shut itself off at about 60 degrees. We called the number for help and the lady we spoke to seemed short and choppy, and didn’t offer much help. We ended up figuring it out ourselves and then it worked out perfectly the rest of the trip. We enjoyed staying at this location! The home was clean. The only thing we did not enjoy was the dishes in the dishwasher left from the previous people who stayed. Many of the measuring cups were turned up right and holding water and food when we opened it. I would recommend this location to a friend!
We over all enjoyed the stay at the cabin. The home was cozy and welcoming. We did have a few issues with the stay. The directions to get into the door were not matching the correct way to get in. There was no screen to wake up and no “*” to press. The wood that we paid $68 for to have a fire cracked horribly and was not relaxing. The chimney opening closed and filled the house with smoke and we learned that the smoke detectors do not work at all. There was dust hanging from the chairs down stairs and the ceilings up stairs. There was dirt and leaves under the furniture up stairs. The toilet paper and paper towels that were left for us to use felt like sand paper. Surely someone can afford a little better quality toiletries than that. Other than that we had a nice time and would like to go back if the cleaning was better and the smoke detectors were monitored a little closer.
The property itself was wonderful. Great location. Dealing with the property management company was a bit of a challenge. Our access code didn’t work upon arrival and we had no cell service at the cabin. The Wi-Fi was down prior to our arrival. We were told a repairman would be out the day after we arrived. The problem was that we were telephoned by the management company (with no prior notice) and told that we had to be at the property to allow the repair person access. We were in town and had to leave and go back. This was very frustrating and we didn’t feel it was our responsibility. Someone from the management company should have handled it. Other than those 2 issues, our stay was wonderful.
Very nice and secluded property. Doors in Master are glass and do not have blinds so it is very bright in there in the morning, would be nice if there was a way to cover them. Ice maker does not work. Hot tub did not look like it has been treated. Kitchen not stocked well but that was not an issue for us since we only stayed 2 nights, but if staying for a week, there is not a lot to cook with.
We had an amazing time at this lovely cabin. The cabin was very clean and well equipped. We were pleasantly surprised that there even was an air fryer! :) Hot tub worked great once we figured out how to operate it.
Blowing Rock is a cute town that’s minutes away. Also the stunning Grandfather Mountain and Mile High Swinging bridge are just a 20 minute drive from the cabin. Overall a great experience.
We loved the location. Centrally located. My only complaint would be that the towels were so limited. Other than that it was a wonderful time. The outside fire pit was a nice addition. Enjoyed the fireplace every day. Would love to go back.
Our family of five and one very tiny dog enjoyed ourselves in this property. Although it sits within a neighborhood of sorts, you might not know it once you're there. There is no direct view of any neighbor even though you pass the homes while driving in. It was beautifully quiet with the only sounds being that of mountain winds and the burble of the creek below. The view is mainly of the surrounding trees and foliage which did not disappoint. We enjoyed the upstairs living space which had a high quality 4K TV and satellite service if you wanted to catch a show. We made good use of the fireplace and enjoyed the fact that you could slightly rearrange the living room and dining room chairs for different activities. We did a lot of family games and a few puzzles. The hot tub was ready to go and easy to get into. We switches our phones to "WIFI calling" and were able to use all aspect of our mobile device. There's lots of deck space, a firepit, and a cool private overlook that sits ~100 ft away from the house; perfect to listen to the creek with a glass of wine. The decks were a bit too wet to enjoy during our stay but 2 of the decks are covered if you don't mind the winter air. The incoming roads are gravel but well maintained and mostly flat. The driveway is a tad steep but our 4WD had zero issues. I think our 2WD minivan could get there in the summer but I couldn't recommend that if there is an significant snow in the winter. That's really the case for the entire area and not something unique to this rental. We had a great time and the rental agency was easy to access and quick to answer any questions. No issues, just fun and relaxation.

A little mountain getaway
The cabin was beautiful and in a very scenic area. Our visit, overall, was awesome and the accommodations within the cabin were perfect. After a tumultuous couple months, a friend and I really needed a little getaway.
Upon arrival, we were told our key access would work at 1 PM as we had paid for early check-in. Unfortunately, this was not the case and there's no cell phone service! Needless to say, we had to circle back to make contact with Karolina cabin rentals. We made it back only two get stuck in the driveway, as it's not very well-kept. $125 in a tow truck later! Huge bummer on top of taking 1.5 hours to enter the property.
For the most part, the cabin was very clean and tidy. The bathrooms definitely could've used a little love as there was lots of hair in both showers. The kitchen was clean but the dishwasher was left for an unclaimed. Little things, but with everything going on in the world not exactly what you hope to see.
I travel a ton with work and have lots of experience renting cabins both in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains. I've rented cabins of all shapes and sizes and price points. This one, was grossly overpriced in my opinion. There is not a ton to do in Blowing Rock and I was blown away that it cost over $900 for two night stay, even during a tropical storm! My recommendation, as someone that spends upwards of 50 K a year and travel, would be to discount rates when guest are unable to take advantage of the only thing the area has to offer which would be nature. I have stayed in a very comparable cabin in the great Smoky Mountains that only cost 500 for a two night stay, so I am really surprised by the pricing in blowing rock.
While everyone I spoke with was super nice, it's safe to say I won't be returning to this location. The grounds were very littered with debris and seemed as if the cleaning crew breezed through before we got there. Despite the comedy of errors our first day, or second day was very enjoyable and relaxing. I just hate I had to spend more money out of pocket to get my car towed out of an unkept driveway even after over paying to stay at a property during a tropical storm.
Thank you for asking for my review and I wish you all continued success.
