Villa Lavanda is an enchanting 17th century stone house set among the hills preceding Cinque Terre. The swimming pool at Villa Lavanda is extensively planted with wild Italian lavender that is indigenous to the area. It sooner or later, it is delightful fragrance with it’s relaxing and insecticidal properties wraps it This classic Ligurian farm house has been tastefully and lovingly restored by the owner who is an architect known in Italy. The stone arches, chestnut beams Relaxed, comfortable and romantic, this villa will ensure a perfect holiday. ACCOMMODATION Villa Lavanda is on two levels: Satelite television and a CD player on the ground floor. There is a large bathroom with Jacuzzi on this floor. The bedroom has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. A master bedroom with a wrought iron bed and a bathroom en suite with a hydro-shower, a double bedroom with a single bed and a double bed. The first floor has been transformed into a large recreation room with a fine billiard table, a telescope for gazing and even access to the attic. The attic is an open loft space with two single beds (they can be put together on request) and a double sofa / futon bed. The fitness area is also in this area. Please note that all windows have mosquito screens and all bedrooms have ceiling fans. ACCOMMODATION Ground floor: fully equipped country-style kitchen and dining area, 1 bathroom with Jacuzzi First floor: 1 master bedroom with en suite bathroom with hydro-shower, 1 double bedroom, 1 double bedroom with single beds, 2 large bathrooms with shower Mezzanine / loft: 1 twin bedroom, 1 double sofa bed / Futon Square Meters: 380 Outside: private garden, furnished patio, 1 separate tavern with bathroom, equipped terrace, swimming pool, area for children’s games Private parking for 3 cars. THE GROUNDS The garden is completely fenced ensuring total privacy. There is a beautiful covered verandah that looks onto the pool and is well furnished for dining alfresco. It´s elegantly billowing sun curtains make it the perfect place for a post prandial snooze. It has a bar, a professional stove, a wood burning pizza oven, a large fireplace for BBQing and a table for over 10 people, as well as a bathroom. In the garden there is a swimming pool (10 x 4 meters) with sun umbrellas and wooden sun beds, as well as a small children playground. For guests use four mountain bikes, the surrounding country side is perfectly suited for their use. LOCATION Villa Lavanda is strategically located to reach the most important parts of the Italian Riviera: Cinque Terre, Golfo dei Poeti, Portofino and Genoa. It is also well located for Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Carrara and Versilia amongst other northern Tuscan attractions. There is so much to do and see you will be making a list for your next trip. We were two families travelling together with 5 young children. We were met at the house by the owner who was very nice and service-minded. The house was immaculate, very clean and well-kept. The cleaning lady came three times a week, which almost makes you feel like staying in a five star hotel! The garden was huge and secluded with lots of space to play, and the pool was clean and good size. Both the garden and pool kept the children occupied for hours. You will need a car, but la Spezia is only a 10 minutes drive away and a great starting point for going to Portovenere and Cinque Terre, Portofino and other nice places. Pisa and Lucca was appr. 1 hour away by car. If you are looking for a beautiful quiet retreat and don't mind a short drive to get around, this is a very nice "hideaway". Sep 26, 2015 #### Special in La Spezia Villa Cicala is set in an elevated position overlooking the valley that sweeps up from La Spezia, the adjacent hills seem to wrap around to create a bowl and the views are lovely, The villa is very well equipped, comfortably furnished and set within a well attended large garden in a quiet residential area but with easy access to the village and route to the coast. All of the bedrooms are comfortable with lots of nice touches and the villa is very spacious with lots of quiet corners settle into and read. The pool and the outside loggia is splendid and we spent most of our time out there enjoying the sunshine and also some evening meals when we were not visiting the local restaurants, the owner Barbara also arranged for a local chef to cook for us one evening which was very special indeed. The area of La Spezia is stunning, the town itself is worth a days visit but the area has so much to offer, a 45 minute drive and you are in Portovenere ( more attractive than Portofino in my view ) with access to the Cinque Terre. We had a lovely holiday at Villa Cicala and highly recommend it as a Special place to stay ! ##### david q.
