The Lookerer offers a shepherds hut experience like no other! Offering cosy accommodation for 2, set in the most wonderful of locations on the Romney Marsh amongst nature and fields of lambs and sheep. This really is a place to unwind, relax and switch off..... There is also so much to see and do on your doorstep, countryside walks galore and if you fancy a trip to the coast the wonderful sandy beach of Dymchurch is only 10 minutes drive. You really must stay here to believe it's tranquility! Living area with wood burning stove, wooden folding table and chairs for 2 Kitchen with 2 ring electric hob, fridge, sink, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine Sleeping Area with a double bed, underbed storage, coat rail, double aspect windows with blinds Shower Room with an overhead shower, wash basin, heated towel rail, w.c. Garden with a sheep proof fence surrounding a seating area with wooden chairs, fire pit/BBQ. Private parking for 1 car The hut is heated via the wood burning stove and an electric radiator Towels and linen are provided, as well as bath robes and slippers A starter supply of logs is provided, further logs available at a cost of £5 per sack If you would like a locally sourced breakfast box which comprises of 4 x bacon rashers,4 x sausages, 4 x eggs, 1 x small loaf of bread please request this with your booking. There is an additional cost of £15. Included with every stay is tea, coffee, jam & marmalade and a bottle of wine, all from local businesses. Unfortunately due to the surrounding sheep dogs are not permitted. ​Please note check in is 3pm and check out is 10am. We had a lovely weekend staying at Romney Marsh Shepherd Hut. Seeing sheep and chickens wandering around the field was a treat! It was everything I hoped it would be. Space is obviously at a premium and as an older couple (mid 70's) we don't travel lightly, but we managed to cope with a small but carefully though out space. The bed was particularly comfortable, and the shower room/toilet was a revelation (I never imagined you would get such a good shower in a Shepherd's hut). We had the promised sheep all around us, and as each side of the hut has a window we really did feel we were right in the midst of them. Lovely open countryside with "big skies". We had a great weekend enjoying glorious sunshine and torrential rain. How nice to be so warm and snug and listen to that rain! Being surrounded by sheep was so peaceful and having the lit path to the hut was perfect for the dark night. The hut is spacious and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. The little Christmas touches also made it more magical. The log burner kept the hut warm for hours but having the additional little heater was perfect. The bathroom was well heated too with the towel rail and use of the robes made the whole experience more comfortable. Having tea and coffee, milk, jam and marshmallows was a fantastic addition and the biscuits were heavenly!! The hut was spotlessly clean and a complete magical haven. We would love to come back and stay in spring time to enjoy the sheep and lambs! We arrived by taxi from Ashford Intl station after a speedy hop from London, no trouble at all to reach this tranquil destination. With an entire app of information sent earlier we were fully prepared and so excited to see everything this beautiful place had to offer. The Hut is so thoughtfully accommodated that we wanted for nothing at all - we were greeted by local treats and enjoyed beautifully scented, luxurious showers straight into fluffy bathrobes (jet lag was no match!) A sunset walk among the sheep (and a sweet visit from the littlest lamb!) brought us fully back to life after a long day of travel from the US and at night, rain lulled us to a very comfortable sleep. The temperatures in the Hut were always pleasant and we loved to feel the breezes and soft sunlight through the many windows - never claustrophobic in such a well-thought abode. We rented bikes to trot down to Dymchurch and had a lovely day of it. Do not miss out on the local breakfast box - what could be better than the freshest farm eggs with your local coffee? The host is so very thoughtful and kind. We were sad to leave - this retreat recharged us fully, and we now count ourselves lucky to have seen this beautiful corner of the world! Our sincere thanks. Absolutely everything had been provided. Just when you thought you’d found something it didn’t have there it was. I said oh shame no wooden board for cheese, then found it. Then thought, oops no heatproof glove for the woodburner, and it was hanging up. Honestly it was so well equipped, even marshmallows, and a Nespresso machine!!! The hut was toastie warm and a lovely break away from TV and telephones. I took some battery operated candles which looked amazing and the outdoor fire pit provided a lovely ambience. We played cards, drank wine (a bottle provided also) and listened to music, we had taken a speaker but there was a radio I spotted on the shelf. I must admit the weather wasn’t kind to us and I felt bad that the sheep were out getting wet (obviously not a country girl). But it was lovely that they were around, initially they kept their distance, but after a while starting to come closer. It was just perfect and I will definitely return. We had wanted to star gaze but unfortunately the clouds were too low, an excuse to return . The hut was spotless and the shower was incredible, not the power you would associate with a Shepherds Hut!! If there was one thing missing that would be good weather, but that is beyond anyone’s control.
