Tiled steps lead through a courtyard gate up to the door of the apartment which is situated above three small souvenir shops. The apartment has a large veranda which has wonderful clear sea views towards the deserted islands of Thio Adelfia. It offers an area for sunbathing or entertaining with a pergola overhead to prevent it becoming too hot but also allowing a sun area. The apartment consists of two large rooms plus bathroom. It is tiled with a light grey tile and all furniture is in white wood. It is wonderfully airy and light. The sitting area has a large settee which opens into a king sized bed and there are also easy chairs and coffee tables. It is tastefully furnished with sideboard, books and music player. There are three windows in the sitting area looking over the pedestrianized village street. The apartment easily sleeps four although more usually the apartment is rented to two people. A travel cot is also available to save opening the king sized sofa if requested. A dining table and chairs which seats 4/6 people is situated next to a large picture window which perfectly frames the sea view as seen by our photos. The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped with hob, cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. Plus ample china and cooking utensils. Going through an archway and down one step is a small hallway which leads to the king sized bedroom. The bathroom is off this hallway. The fully tiled bathroom has a shower plus bath, hand basin and units plus toilet. It is tiled in a pale blue and white. The bedroom has balcony doors to the front and back with a small balcony on the village side and a large veranda on the sea side. The bedroom is quite large with furnishings in white. From the king sized bed you look directly out to the sea. The room has air conditioning although this is rarely used as the open beams plus front and back balcony doors make this room very pleasantly cool. A hair drier is provided as are beach towels, robes,ironing board and iron. The main beach used by Hora residents is Megalo Mourtia. This is about five minutes drive away and about twenty minutes walk. It offers excellent, safe swimming and snorkelling. Sun beds are available to patrons as are two very good beach tavernas which open until late evening in the height of the season. If you walk down usually someone will offer you a lift back up although most locals consider this their daily constitutional! and there is a shorter footpath route. There are also the beaches of Mikro Mourtia and Yialia nearby which are also favoured as being quieter than Megalo Mourtia but only Yialia has a small place for drinks and food. Patitiri, the main port and village of the island is ten minutes away by car or bus. There is also the original footpath which leads down to the village in about twenty minutes. This is the main shopping area and has quite a few tavernas, bars and coffee shops as well as the bank and ferry booking offices. There is a bus service which operates to Patitiri and to Steni Vala. There are many bays and coves in Alonissos - some deserted and some with tavernas. Some are sandy and shallow, others are shingly or shelve more steeply. All offer excellent safe swimming and snorkeling with crystal clear sea water. You could literally go to a different beach each day of your holiday. There are some fabulous drives to the north of the island and car hire is worthwhile although not essential. Taxis are available day and night plus the little local bus to the Hora operates until midnight in the height of the season. This bus is usually a little tardy starting up at the beginning of the season however! There is a small shop in the Hora as well as a local bakers, ice cream parlour, tavernas, coffee shops and bars. The Hora is really beautiful and very interesting. Certainly a photographers and artists paradise. We also have two museums on the island which are well worth a trip to learn about the pirate past of Alonissos and our wine making history and our underwater heritage. We have wonderful marked walks to be explored on your own as well as led walks by a very knowledgable leader. These are bookable as are all trips from the offices in Patitiri. The waters around Alonissos are wonderful for diving and snorkeling. We have several dive facilities and it is possible to do PADI courses, trial dives as well as standard day or night dives. It is a thrill just to be on a boat and trips are offered to neighbouring islands in the Marine Park. Skopelos and Skiathos can also be visited on a day trip. Self drive boat hire is also available. We have visitors outside the main tourist season who love to come and paint, walk, admire the fauna and flora when the weather is not too hot. Magnolia Apartments is a wonderful place to stay on Alonissos. Located in the old village, you can literally walk out of your door and be amongst all the best restaurants and bars on the island. There is even a bakery down below with the best spanakopita! The apartment is very private and with double glazed windows, it is also quiet. A huge bonus is that the apartment has its own parking spot. There is a full bedroom and sofa bed in the spaceous living room. The front balconies overlook the main pathway up through the village, and the back balcony enjoys a gorgeous sea view. I can't say enough good things about Karen and Kosta, who were there to assist with anything we needed throughout our stay. ##### Alison W. We hired a car, using the company recommended by Karen and saw as much as possible of the island and found our favourite beaches. Es war sehr praktisch das die Unterkunft direkt im Old town war da man Abends dort wunderbar essen gehen kann. Das Haus war sehr sauber (wurde während unserem 10 tägigen Aufenthalt drei mal geputzt) und hatte eine wunderschöne Aussicht. Kostas, der Besitzer, war sehr nett und hat sich um alles gekümmert und war immer sehr hilfsbereit. Leider war es Abends ein bisschen laut weil direkt vor der Haustür Restaurants und Bars sind. We think that we can’t found a better place! First of all, Karen and Kostas are really nice people, super gentle and professional since the first contact till the end. They gave us many suggestions, help us with reservations for rent a bike in Alonissos, they pick up us at our arrival and for departure, provide towels also for the beach and they clean the house every 3 days!....so the first added value of the apartment are the owners!! After that, the house is so nice, like you can see in pictures and also better: clean, with all comforts, air conditioned and a beautiful view on the sea from the big windows or on the balcony, fantastic place for breakfast or dinner. The location is perfect, exactly in the middle of the old village, with bakery, mini market and many restaurants and bar just out of the door! A beautiful surprise! And in the evening there’s a magic atmosphere! Also perfect for move everyday for a new beach, or go in 5 minutes to Megalo Mourtias ( really nice) or Mikros Mourtias (for us one of the best 3 beaches of the island) or to Yalia.... In few words, we spent beautiful and relaxing days on this island and in/thankful this beautiful apartment. We can only recommend it to who want to visit Alonissos: choose it and you didn’t regret. The location is perfect for enjoying everything the old town has to offer and the outside space gives you the option to enjoy the buzz in the street in the evening, while you can also escape to the tranquillity of the rear balcony to enjoy the terrific views. Karen and Kostas were so kind and helpful, taking us to and from the port as well as taking us into Patitiri when the local bus wasn't running. We honestly can't fault this place and would recommend to anyone who is considering a visit to this wonderful island. Thank you both for making our stay so perfect.
