Was lovely stay in a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was nice with cereals, toast and tea plus of choice of cooked options. The only draw back was the lack of evening food but there were plenty of restaurants close by.

The room was very clean and cosy the pub had a lovely atmosphere when you walk in the landlady was very friendly and the breakfast was lush definitely would stay again .when we were leaving the landlady called us a cab which said it would be 20 mins but never showed so we ended up walking

Stayed in a twin room, it wasn't a large room but it was ideal for the 2 nights we stayed. Beds were comfy and we slept well.The breakfast was really good and the quality of the food was excellent. They don't do any other meals than breakfast but the hotel is in a good location just a 10 to 15 minutes walk into the shambles area if York. They also have a private car park.

Review based on cost & time of visit. Old building so room had character but small. Not sure what it would be like in hot weather. Staff very good bar & breakfast also. Surrounding area interesting some good places to go nearby & walmgate. Not very far (10 mins or so) from the Witherspoons near river. Stopped to go to York races good hour walk from there but very nice walk thru centre of York or slightly more direct way. See some interesting places & some nice bars either way

Friendly staff, room cleaned daily with fresh towels and toilet paper. Free breakfast included. Seven rooms and only 4 ish parking bays on the property, however there is a street nearby without yellow lines. Great place for a short stay.

Easy to find with my Google maps , nice walk there, passing plenty of interesting shops, restaurants and close to the Barbican theatre too. Staff were very friendly, showed me to my room. It was ideal for me, my single room. it has a TV, coffee and tea making facilities ( biscuits too) , an iron, a fan as well. Central heating in my room worked great. if you like real ale, it's definitely the pub to stay, plus a few other real ale pubs next door and across the road... just brilliant.
Full English Breakfast, plus there was cereal, yoghurt,fruit and juice.
An upcoming event here.
My single bedroom with ensuite shower/ toilet. It was ideal for me.
