It served as a distribution point for official documents sent from India - remember the British were in control during that time. I am not sure what the entrance fee for foreigners is but the huge sign is slightly obnoxious, isn't it?! The Pagoda is very close to some piers which are quite fun to explore. It is easy to see the church from around the city because of the iconic steeples. The architecute, detail work, stained glass, and reliefs inside the church are truly works of art. A must see church in Yangon. Women must wear long pants or skirt to enter. Visitor hours are between 2-5pm and sometime in the morning on days there are not services.
