Food at the restaurant is delicious. The reception area is cozy with a fireplace, books, and games, and the building that houses the reception and restaurant is beautiful. The activities near the lake are fun. The location is beautiful and peaceful, in the middle of the forest. An excellent place to stargaze. Staff is very friendly. Staff was amazing, food was great. We surprised our young adult kids on a little side trip from Scottsdale, and stayed a night at Backland. We shared a tent with five of us and were very comfortable. What an amazing place to walk and explore. The tent is well appointed and way beyind our expectations. The staff is so super helpful and friendly. We really felt their pride in this special place. Highly recommended for all . The breakfast was so fresh and delightful as well as boxed lunch and dinner. Staff was very nice and always attentive. Had fires going outside at night, smores at the ready. I would bring snacks next time since getting to a town is harder/longer on the forest dirt roads. Spent the days kayaking, fishing, playing chess and a bunch of other games made available by the property, walked through the forest, watched the rain, watched the moon through the telescope available at the property … all in all - an amazing experience !!!
