You will quickly learn why this home is so special to our family. Migizi Landings is a short drive to everything that Bayfield County has to offer. A very convenient spot for those who vacation, hike, canoe, kayak, ski, ATV visit the Bayfield Apple Festival and attend Big Top Chautauqua events. Many have told us that once they arrive they never want to leave the home. Local craftsmen built the four-story timber frame home in 2001\. Many of the large wood beams were reclaimed from area buildings. Like the homes of Scandinavia that have stood for centuries, no metal is used in the super structure of Migizi Landings. You will stare up from the great room and fireplace three floors above to the loft and vaulted ceiling in awe at the sea of pine. The home features four bedrooms, three full baths, a large authentic Finnish sauna, two fireplaces, an outdoor lake shower and a large fourth-floor open loft. A three-quarters wrap deck extends to the back overlooking Lake Superior, Madeline and Long Islands. An extended dining table in the great room can accommodate large gatherings. Custom built furniture and art fill the cabin making it feel like home to all who visit. We named our home Migizi Landings from the Ojibwa Indian (Lake Superior Band) name meaning bald eagle. On the day we bought the home in 2009 a pair of bald eagles landed on a tree on the corner of the property looking over Lake Superior. On every visit since we see them multiple times daily. Their nest is on the lake within a 1/2 mile of our home. Deer, fox, loons, pileated woodpeckers and much more are experienced on visit. A post-stay cleaning fee is taken out of your security deposit. It's even more beautiful and comfortable than the pictures online show. A lovely setting by the lake, lots of spaces to hang out together or have some privacy. We enjoyed the deck, the great room with its big dining table, the well-equipped kitchen, the charcoal grills, and having a fire on the beach. It was conveniently close to attractions, restaurants, and supplies in Washburn and Bayfield. The Houghton Falls trail nearby was a real highlight, too. We got up early on our final morning and the sunrise over the lake was spectacular. The location is perfect, the beach and property are unbeatable in an area that has a lot of competition. The house itself is stunning and perfect for our mini-family reunion. All wonderful accommodations and the owners were great to communicate with. We are already planning our return- I can say this may be the best rental I’ve booked. ##### AJ L. We all served together in Afghanistan with the 173rd airborne brigade 1/503rd light infantry in 2009-2010 and 2011-2012\. We like to get together every year and catch up- often playing all day grand strategy board games- such as Twilight Imperium. There were 8 of us and we all stayed comfortable and bedded down well! The kitchen is large with pleanty of space with large communal areas! The surrounding area is also beautiful with a gorgeous private beach! We very much look forward to hopflefully staying here again next year! ##### Christian N. We had an amazing time with friends and family. Our hosts were unbelievably communicative - and they made our stay as easy and comfortable as could be. Saw a rainbow going into the lake (very unique!) , weather was cool and a bit damp but we still enjoyed beach when sun did break out. Golfed, biked, hiked and kayaked. Time went by too quickly. The cabin was clean but it’s showing its use. Lots of wear and tear. Location is good which makes it really easy to get to Ashland and Bayfield. Recommend visiting both! Communication was ok with the host, they were traveling during our stay, so we had communication delays. We did forget a few items and we’re still waiting to get help on getting them back.
