We were half board and experienced traditional Japanese food. We are glad we tried this . The staff spoke English and were friendly and helpful. The Kurobe valley is beautiful. Hotel Kurobe has some of the best people, namely Kurumi-san and Nakano-san. They helped us a lot and made our stay extremely comfortable. Spectacular view from hotel lobby, bedroom, as well as from onsen pool. Friendly front desk staff and restaurant staff, despite very poor English. Hotel provides free transport to and from train station, unlimited. Dont ever try to walk from train station to hotel with your luggage, it is uphill.
