Very close to the temple. Staff were friendly and accommodating. However, it is a 15 - 20 minutes walk from the train station. Found ourselves taking a lot of bus rides at the end of the day to avoid the 20 minute walk. The beds are very uncomfortable. Hard as the floor. At least that was our experience with the room we had. Tough time getting a comfortable night rest after a long day. All our backs hurts. I don't know if it's a cultural thing, but I definitely prefer a soft bed. The hostel has a washer/dryer combo. It's convenient, but with those combos we also had to hang the jeans to dry. Took almost 2 days for the jeans to dry. Very inconvenient. All the hotels we stayed at in Japan were like that. Regardless, here is our experience Our room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. Our pillows were too hard but we got extra pillows from the staff which was really nice. There were enough toilets on our floor. They were otherwise clean but there were some dirt on the floor which made it look like the floors were not cleaned properly every day. For example, there was a used earplug on the floor for couple of days until I picked it up and threw it away. Just before our last week the restaurant moved to a different location but so did the guest fridge and all of the tables and chairs. The tables and chairs were pretty quickly replaced but not having a fridge was a big minus for us. On our last day we heard that the staff fridge was given for the guests to use the day before. Regarding the restaurant, there were some issues with the fire alarm. On two consecutive days the fire alarm went off and in either of those times the staff didn't offer us any information what was happening. We were left wondering and had to actively ask about the situation ourselves. Luckily it was a false alarm on both times. All of the staff members were really nice and helpful during our whole stay. We would suggest that the staff would have nametags or some other way for the guests to recognize them easier though.
