Charming property but is essentially an old house so the rooms are smaller than your typical 4 star. Food was good if a little overpriced. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I’d go back again just for the peace and quiet. They and I have a pool and other facilities in an adjacent building too. Overall recommended, for a quiet and romantic retreat.

The property was impressive with the room being quite a good spec. Huge windows offered a lovely view of the lake area and the stand up fan offered relief from quite a stuffy evening. There were some quality amenities and facilities on site too.
The parking was ample but even the closest areas required a sizable walk to reception and that is including the disabled parking bays.
The biggest disappointment for me was the dining experience. I ordered a starter and main. The starter took a while to get to me and once finished, it took another 30 minutes for the main to arrive which was quite frustrating as I was hungry once sat down. I appreciate it may have been busy but I still think the service could have been improved upon.
Breakfast was set up nice and I was shown to a table before participating in the buffet. The food was quite tasty and well cooked but it was overshadowed by the so-called apple juice which had this awful metallic aftertaste which lingered long on the palate and detracted from the taste of the food just consumed.
Overall everything was pretty good but the dining meant this review lost out on a star which otherwise would have been a 5 star experience.

The managers were swift to respond to any and all problems!!!! Very well mannered and professional!!! This was a great weekend getaway within walking distance of the cathedral, a museum and many places to shop!!!
