I was astounded by just how arid and flat it was, I truly love landscapes like this - nothing makes you feel more like you have escaped reality than staring off into the distance on an endless plain. A highlight was a small dam or waterhole on the side of the hwy where I saw my first wild Brolgas, a huge and impressive Australian bird.
