It’s a second-row house - right across the street from the beach access. It’s laid out with a central open floor plan, so that you can talk with family in the living room while cooking in the kitchen. On each side of the big central room, there’s a suite of 2 bedrooms, connected by a bathroom, perfect for families or friends. We're always improving the house - we recently added a new fridge and microwave, did some painting, and created a shuffleboard court INDOOR LIVING: The kitchen is well-stocked because we live here - with good knives and cutting boards, coffee paraphernalia, and fun stuff like a panini maker, a whirly pop (which will forever spoil you for microwave popcorn), and of course a blender and toaster and lots of good pots and pans. And we've installed a new gas range, and a reverse-osmosis water purification system. We’ve put a lot of thought into making the house family friendly, including: \- a wall of bookshelves, fully stocked with books for adults and kids \- a stereo system and some records and CDs \- lots of games and cards and puzzles and art supplies \- a low cabinet with plastic plates and cups, so the kids can get their own snacks \- a 5-gallon water cooler, so the kids can get their own drinks, \- a tea party set \- a portable crib and high chair \- cleaning supplies stored on a high shelf, out of reach of little ones \- new washer and dryer Bring your own sheets and towels - or we can recommend a local linen rental service. OUTDOOR LIVING: \- right across the street from the beach access! \- a big shady porch deck with lots of comfy seating, \- since we’re on Main Street, there’s great people-watching. \- an outdoor shower, \- a picnic table with benches, \- a Weber grill. \- beach chairs, sand toys, boogie boards, skim boards, noodles, inflatables, umbrellas, and a cart to carry it all in, \- shaded shuffleboard court in the carport! PLEASE NOTE: Although the house has more than one floor, the rental is the first floor only. We have just fulfilled a lifetime dream of moving to Sunset Beach, and we’re delighted to have found a house that we can share with guests, while we move upstairs to the “crow's nest” apartment. So if you need help replacing the water cooler bottle, or want a knitting lesson or recommendations for the best fish market or organic farm market, you only have to text us. But don’t worry, even though we’ll be upstairs, there’s a big empty space between the main house and the little apartment on the 3rd floor - because there's no second floor! Sunset beach is a quiet town, which was just what we were looking for. There were plenty of things to do (Shuffleboard had just been completed!) when not at the beach, and most beach sundries were available to borrow. Rosie and Yitzie were super responsive and helpful through all the weather challenges. The location and layout were great for us with two bedrooms on each side and a full bath to split for each set of bedrooms. This home allows you to "bring nothing from home but your clothes and bathing suits" -- from starter TP/Paper Towels/Tissues to pots/pans/crockpot/kitchen supplies (you name it, they have it (even a "name that utensil" challenge in one of the drawers!). The beach supplies were also well stocked - chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, sand toys. Newly renovated bathrooms, kitchen appliances, and sliding door with screen. And, games and puzzles which gave us fun conversation at dinner and during rainy times. The owners are in an upper level apartment; they are lovely and yet you don't know they are there unless you need them for something and then they are really responsive and ooh so kind!! Our second year staying at the property and another excellent stay. Everything we needed and then some and the location was great. The front porch is always a favorite for our family and our 2 dogs. Our dog loves the front covered deck. There have been updates done to the home the past couple of years and the updated bathrooms and flooring are really nice. Two easy access access points to the beach with a total walk of 150 yards. Rosie & Yitzy were great host! Their place was clean & comfortable plus well equipped kitchen. Since VRBO says they only rent houses that do not have the owners on property apparently doesn't mean exactly that. We were there with our daughter, son-in-law and two young grandchildren. We have a wonderful time. The house is so comfortable and welcoming. You really feel like the owners care about you having a great vacation. It was easy to spread out and the living/dining area was spacious enough for us to have meals or hang out together. For indoor time, there is an array of games, art supplies, puzzles, and books (from children to adult!) to choose from. The kitchen is well-stocked and the beds are very comfortable. When not at the beach, we spent most of our time on the deck where there was plenty of room for the six of us; it was also perfectly safe for our newly-walking granddaughter to toddle around on. The location is perfect – it’s literally a 5- minute walk to the beach. The owners have plenty of sand toys, chairs, and noodles for guests to use. It was such a joy to set up our chairs, etc. on the beach in the morning, leave them there and come back “home” for a mid-afternoon rest, and return in the afternoon. And its only a few blocks from the pier and several ice cream places. The outdoor shower is great and the garden will be lovely to pick from when vegetables come in. (We did use some of the basil on our home-made pizza.) Would-be renters might have concerns about the owners living upstairs but we found that Rosie and Yitzy were readily available if we had a question about something but otherwise I think you would hardly notice them. The house is perfect for a family and visiting friends- spacious, warm, inviting. The hosts make sure little things are there that make living away from home easier-- from sandwich bags to sponges... shampoo in the outside shower (& we passed along full bottles to pay it forward)... paper supplies, laundry detergent... any kitchen pot/pan/appliance you need... to a water dispenser and 5 gallon jugs refilled and waiting.. to games, crafts, and beach chairs.. Atop all that is the kindness and hospitality of the owners, who live upstairs. All this and pet friendly so our dog was a part of our memories here!! Grateful Dunes- we will be back again next year!! there is no need to look anywhere else and our family/friends beach time has landed it's traditional meeting spot on your cozy covered patio!! thank you Yitzy and Rosie!! ##### Amy L. The house is set up perfectly for multiple guests. The owners were upstairs in their crow's nest apartment, but were never intrusive and when asked supplied wonderful information. The location is convenient to the beach and small shops and a short drive into Sunset Beach (town) or Calabash. We did both numerous times. I totally loved it. ##### Nancy B.
