Embark on a guided walking tour of the area for a window into the rich history and Swabian cuisine. Marking the neighborhood’s heart is the Erwin-Schoettle-Platz, a square surrounded by impressive buildings. Enter St. Matthew’s Church at the southern end of the square and marvel at the white interior. Admire the arched stained-glass windows and the silver glow of the organ. Next door stands the 19th-century St. Mary’s Hospital (Marienhospital). Snap photos of its neo-Renaissance building and study the sculpture of *Mary with the Divine Child* above the entrance portal. Appreciate the Wilhelminian and art nouveau architecture as you wander through the streets of Stuttgart-Süd. Take a break at one of the breweries or international restaurants. On a rainy day, go for a swim in the Hallenbad Heslach indoor pool. Check out the Benckendorff Mausoleum within the 18th-century Heslach Cemetery.
