The owner checked us in and told us his vision for his new venture. He was the most kind and accommodating person on our 2 week trip. He's spent 8 months remodeling the place and it was very clean and our room was huge! He has lots of ideas for the future of this motel. Our only negative was the lack of a nice continental breakfast. He did have 6 flavored creamers though! He even helped put our luggage in our car because it was raining. The man at the front desk was nice and actually came up to our room to help us turn on the heater. It’s a convenient location if you want to go to multiple places in Vermont and even New Hampshire. Lots of parking too. Some things that I think could improve: the entire lobby area and hallways where the rooms are smell very strongly of incense. The rooms could use some updating. The bolt on our door was broken off for example and the rooms are opened by an actual metal key. The WiFi needs some major upgrading - you can’t load anything other than maybe sending some texts. It is clearly a facility that has been only partially renovated, but it has a long way to go. The upholstered chairs were frayed and stained, and one of the nightstand was splattered with paint. There was an old, unused TV bracket on the wall, as well as an old, uncovered electronic device that appeared to be unused motion censor. Rusty, old-style fire sprinklers were present. The sink in the kitchenette area needed to be repaired, as it sprayed up as well as down. The bathroom needed paint and still had an old, uncovered phone jack on the wall. The view off of the balcony would have been nice if it had not been for the piece of construction equipment parked out back and the dead plants on the ground below. It seemed like we were the only people staying in the main building, which, in addition to the sketchy neighborhood and odd noises made the whole experience a bit creepy. There is an OVERWHELMING smell of incense because they are burning it at the check-in desk. It permeates the entire lobby, which is open to the lounge/breakfast area, so that area is affected as well! Thankfully, we had a ground-floor room with a walkout slider so we could avoid the lobby! No way we were taking a chance with the in-house breakfast! The room was fine, but many simple things were missing that I had to go back to the lobby and request, like a working TV(It was unplugged, and the directions for the remote were missing a key step) There were no plastic cups, no tissues in the room, and the fabric chairs at the table were covered in stains and had tears in them. My husband and I came into town for a wedding and not knowing the area we chose The New World Inn. We were very impressed with the kind, welcoming manner of the owner and how clean and comfortable the place and the beds were. The shower was better than mine at home! We had a nice balcony off our room which we used in the morning and evening. My husband liked the choices of the breakfast. He also loved the freshness of the coffee. When we arrived at New World Inn we learned that the pool was not available. It was being dug anew and had digging equipment in it, not water !!!
