Meriton Old Town Garden Hotel

"Rooms were stuffy, we had no way of turning on the a/c as there was no thermostat in the room. It was hard to breathe ! We had to walk 2 sets of steep stairs to reach our room with luggage, no bell boy! Also there were folded up mattresses by our door throughout our stay, very tacky! To make matters worse they skipped cleaning our room one day. Breakfast was ok. The location however was excellent. I wouldn’t stay there again."

"This was the perfect location in Old Town. We were able to walk everywhere. The property itself is over 600 years old so the ancient walls, wooden beams and other unique features were a delight. This is a wonderful boutique hotel with a lovely staff who are kind and helpful. The breakfast was also very good. We had three rooms: a standard room, a suite and a senior suite. Both suites were amazing. The senior suite is on the third floor (elevator only goes to the second floor so we had to take the luggage up one flight, but totally worth it). The senior suite is a mini apartment, very spacious and more than enough room for two."

"I recently stayed at Original Sokos Hotel Viru and overall had a pleasant stay. The hotel is well located, the room was comfortable, and the staff I interacted with were generally friendly. However, the check-in experience left a sour taste. I arrived at approximately 1:15 p.m. and was told that my room was already ready. Despite the room being available, I was informed that I would need to pay an additional €15 to access it before the official 3:00 p.m. check-in time. Rather than pay the fee, I waited in the lobby with my wife, a 3-year-old child, a 6-month-old infant, and our luggage. At approximately 2:00 p.m., I approached the desk again and a different employee checked us in immediately at no charge. This made the policy feel arbitrary and inconsistent. If a room is ready and available, especially for a family travelling with young children, charging an extra fee simply to access an already-prepared room creates a poor first impression. The fact that I was later checked in for free only added to the confusion. I understand hotels have published check-in times, but when a room is sitting ready and vacant, a more customer-focused approach would go a long way. Overall, a good hotel, but the handling of the early check-in situation was disappointing and unnecessary."

"This is a brand new hotel and thus has some technical issues (primarily air conditioning) that have yet to be ironed out. Despite the staff being as helpful as they possibly could be in facilitating a comfortable stay for us, we decided to relocate to another hotel. We were provided a full refund for our stay. This looks to be an issue with Novotel deciding to open the hotel prematurely and we have provided this feedback Novotel directly."
