If you want to see the falls at their peak, head there in late winter/early spring just as the snow melts and preferably after a heavy rain fall. Also if your schedule permits, head there on a weekday morning and you just might have the place to yourself for a bit. Old Man's Cave derives its name from the hermit Richard Rowe who lived in the large recess cave of the gorge.
