A place of spectacular beauty and constant thrills, this little village is set amid soaring snow-capped mountains.

The village of Snowmass is surrounded by the towering peaks of Aspen Snowmass, beckoning adventurous travellers to the slopes, on foot, skis or bicycle. The picturesque village is perfectly located for extreme sports and vacations at an elevation. Scale its formidable mountains to experience unparalleled ski runs and views or hop in a car to explore local scenery.

Strap on your ski boots or throw your snowboard over your shoulder and hit the slopes on Snowmass Mountain. The 21 lifts serve 94 trails spread around the resort, with routes of varying difficulty and speed. Bike down many of these trails in summer. Relax at the end of a day’s adventure in one of the nine restaurants on the mountain or glide home to ski-in/ski-out lodging for a refreshing hot tub soak.

For additional thrilling ways of seeing the area, local adventure centres offer horseback riding and whitewater rafting as well as rock and ice climbing. If you prefer something at a slower pace, spend a day fishing on the Roaring Fork and Fryingpan rivers or drift lazily through the sky in a hot air balloon.

The village is a great base for exploring nearby sights. Gaze out of the windows of the Elk Camp Gondola for the best views of the surrounding area. Drive to Maroon Bells and get out your camera for shots of the clear lake set beneath jagged rock faces and snowy summits. Enjoy other areas of natural beauty at Independence Pass and Glenwood Springs.

In the village itself, see prehistoric fossils in the Ice Age Discovery Centre, which displays the remains of mammoths, mastodons and more, all found in the area. Browse arts, crafts and sports equipment in the town's numerous shops.

The Aspen Snowmass destination is only a 30-minute drive from Aspen airport, which connects to cities such as Denver, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco. The snow season stretches from late November into April, providing a lovely winter escape. Enjoy stunning scenery and adventures year-round.
