Not staff at hotel so you had to phone through to another hotel for assistance. He been to the BGL twice in the last month and have enjoyed both stays. First hotel I’ve been to that has no reception or staff in general, with keys and information left on a table on the way in. No matter though, I’m there to sleep and shower and that’s about it! It’s situated right on the beach which gives you the most incredible view out of the window and it’s close to local pubs and a few other conveniences. More importantly, it’s in an amazing place to head in to Wasdale - other than Gosforth, or staying in Wasdale itself (good luck!) it’s the best place for access, just 25 minutes away mostly along the shore of Wast Water. It’s an unmanned hotel so you can’t buy food or anything there (tea and coffee were provided) but we knew this before we arrived so brought some things with us. It’s in such a beautiful location, the kids were made up with the beach close by. We enjoyed an evening in the pub / beer garden within walking distance.
