Experience unforgettable days in our cozy vacation apartments in a former farmhouse at the foot of the Rennsteig, one of Germany’s most famous hiking trails. Nestled in the idyllic natural surroundings of the Thuringian Forest, Landhaus Sommerberg offers the perfect retreat for those seeking peace and quiet, nature lovers, and active vacationers. In the summer, you can sit by the fire pit in the garden, and in the winter, one of the vacation apartments also features a crackling fire by the roaring fireplace to warm up after a hike in the snow.
Vacation Apartment I – 1 bedroom with a double bed (1.80 x 1.90 m), 1 bedroom with a double bed (1.40 x 2.00 m), living room with a pull-out sofa, bathroom with shower, kitchen, fireplace – approx. 65 sqm – sleeps 4 (5th person may sleep on the living room sofa).
Vacation Apartment II – 1 bedroom with a double bed (1.80 x 2.00 m), large living area with kitchen and pull-out sofa bed, bathroom with shower, balcony – approx. 45 sqm – sleeps 2 (a 3rd person may sleep on the sofa bed in the living-dining area).

Surrounded by dense forests and rolling hills, our surroundings invite you to go on long hikes. Discover the diverse flora and fauna right on your doorstep and enjoy breathtaking views. In winter, the region transforms into a paradise for cross-country skiers—groomed trails are sure to set every winter sports enthusiast’s heart racing.

Experience sights and culture up close
Thuringia delights with a wide variety of day-trip destinations and cultural highlights. Visit Wartburg Castle in Eisenach, the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Classical Weimar,” or the historic city of Erfurt with its impressive cathedral. For families, the nearby Zella-Mehlis Marine Aquarium amusement park or the Saalfelder Fairy Grottoes adventure world are great options. The town of Schleusingen, to which our beautiful district of Fischbach belongs, also has a lot to offer. Here in the Henneberger Land region, the Counts of Henneberg once built the impressive Bertholdsburg Castle in the center of Schleusingen, where there is plenty for young and old alike to discover. Throughout the year, a number of cultural events take place here. The Veßra Monastery, not far from Schleusingen, is also always worth a visit. Mainly in the summer and fall, numerous concerts, markets, readings, and exhibitions are held there among the historic buildings of the farm museum.
