It's a budget hotel so don't expect any Bella and whistles. Room is compact but comfortable enough. Shower is not great very low pressure. If your just after a bed for the night it does the job.

I left my rain jacket behind and the owner got in touch with me and he agreed to meet me next morning at Gunwharf Portsmouth because he happened to be travelling over, couldn't thank him enough

We had to walk up 4 flights of stairs to get to the room my husband has COPD so we couldnt go back out for food as he knew he couldnt manage those stairs again - we were offered a different room lower down the building if we wanted to pay the extra bedside lamp was falling off the wall it smelled really musty the bed linen was white so could see it was clean but overall I wish I had booked somewhere else - overall the building needs updating ripped carpets need replacing etc

the hotel was deserted, no staff, the bar was shut, no entertainment, no breakfast,no evening meal if I wanted to book one,so all in all new year ruined. the phoned me and said the wanted to check my bank details because they were giving me a small refund but then took the full amount and no refund. if this is how they run an hotel and treat there guests then beware and avoid

Life at the Channel View hotel

When I arrived at this hotel I thought I had picked a winner, but when I went inside it all changed, there was nobody on the desk. After wandering about for half an hour or so still unable to find anybody I found the phone number and gave it a call. The lady that answered seemed a bit put out that I rang her but finally agreed to come and book me in. After a wait of about twenty minutes, she arrived and then it really started to go downhill. First no breakfast "not enough people" must then no bar, "not enough people" Then no evening meals why you quest it " not enough people" When I found my room I was pleasantly surprised, it was clean and tidy nice, apart from the shower door naming off and the water at a very fast drizzle. All in all, not one of my better picks

Bargain price

For the price I paid for the night, I was not upset with the hotel. Yes, the decor could do with a little work, but my room was clean and the bed was comfortable enough.

Arrogant staff, not helpful, couldn't make any decision by himself, he was so stressed out, Staff has no idea about our pre-booked stay, they didn't have Double rooms and we been allowed to buy from expedia website, left us in the situation where i have to pay more then double price to stay in different hotel

Service was poor. Staff difficult to find and there was no record of my booking. I was asked to leave after 1st night with promise of an alternative room in manager's house without breakfast! This i of course declined. At breakfast thete was also no record of my booking and no soap or towel in bedroom. Very poor service. I recommend this hotel to nobody.

There are 2 hotels with exactly same name different owner. I booked based on the nice one pics and actually the Map app only showed me that one so went to the wrong place. And then find this 'hotel'. I asked to change towels and left the dirty on the floor, the room wasn't made which I said is fine leave but please bring clean towels. Never got them and the next day had to re-use the dirty ones from the floor because there was nobody around to help. Reception, Restaurant and Bar were almost always closed. There were leaks dropping on the carpet... Don't recommend this hotel, for that price can go to a much better place.

À défaut de mieux mais à éviter de préférence

Chambre quadruple de taille tout à fait correcte, un lit double et des lits superposés pour les enfants. Matelas à ressorts de pauvre qualité et très grinçante. Salle de bain personnelle mais eau de douche qui s'écoule très mal, problème signalé au matin mais que l'on retrouve non résolu le soir venu. Sol sale. Petit déjeuner (full English breakfast) de qualité très moyenne, peu copieux. Rapport qualité prix peu satisfaisant, cette réservation avait été tardive et les établissements de meilleures prestations n'étaient plus disponibles.

Bad stay would not recommend.

We booked into the Channel View Hotel and they put us in the guest house down the road. If we wanted to eat in the hotel or go to the bar we had to walk up the road to get there. Defeats the object of staying in the hotel. If I wanted to stay in a guest house I would have booked a guest house. The beds were uncomfortable and the pillows were lumpy. The tea making facilities were poor and there was no one around when we ran out of toilet paper. Shower took 5 minutes to warm up and was not at powerful. It was noisy with doors being shut and talking on the landing. They took my payment even before I had arrived. Was so bad we checked out a day early. Would not recommend.
