La Perla was a lovely place to stay in Ambergris Caye! The villas were beautiful and spacious, and I especially loved the interior design and decorating. It was minimalistic, but still inviting and not lacking in character or color. A/C also worked wonderfully, which was a huge plus for me. Star, one of the office staff, is wonderful and was so kind and helpful throughout our stay.The villa offers booking of third-party services such as a private chef, pantry stocking, massages, taxi or boat from the main water taxi ports to the resort, and one day during our stay, there was a bartender serving drinks by the pool. For me, the only downsides to staying here are that it is about a 25 minute golf cart drive to more populated areas of the town and about 15 minutes of that drive, the roads are unpaved and extremely bumpy/uneven. Additionally, we had a very poor experience with the golf cart company that works with the villa. There were several technical issues with the carts, leading to us switching carts 6 different times over a 4-day period, which resulted in us having to cancel plans due to delays. If you book this villa, I would strongly advise booking your own golf cart rental, rather than booking one through the villa. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here! The only reason I wouldn’t return is bc of how far out it is and the condition of the road. If the road was paved the entire way, I would certainly consider staying here again.
