The old house is charming. Once the kitchen is completed and the washer/dryer are serviced, it will make for a quaint stay. Communication with the owner was very good. Biggest complaint: 1) Incredibly bright lighting in the back yard could not be turned off, potentially affecting light sleepers. 2) The bathroom sink was consistently clogging each time we used it and there was nothing to clear it other than using the toilet plunger (which slung old water everywhere when we brought it up to sink level). House served us well overall due to it's location. TV in the LR did not work well...connection issues. Each bdrm had a TV, which was helpful. Kitchen was quite small and some of the pots, pans, utensils were very used and the kitchen did not have hot water, so washing dishes in cold water is not ideal or good for getting rid of germs. Having a washer with provided detergent and dryer was very helpful. There was some noise from people upstairs (another rental unit) but it was mostly noise from walking around. It was close to venue that we were attending and in a quiet neighborhood. The linens needs to be updated, the dryer wasn’t working properly, and there wasn’t many pots to cook with. There wasn’t enough towels for a three bedroom home, and no wash cloths at all. The AC leaked the entire time we were there. The beds were comfortable, but the blankets and sheets were pretty outdated. I love the historical feel that the home gave and it was very homey. The property had all of the amenities that were needed for a basketball tournament stay and was centrally located to major roads, shopping, restaurants, sporting venue etc. The house is quaint which added to the charm and appeal. A bit of a musty smell when arrived but used air fresheners to resolve. The owners were very communicative, and easy to work with and would definitely use this property again if in the area. The location was perfect for me and my family. My biggest complaint is the bathroom has no way to recycle the air or window to open because there is no screen in the window. I live in an older home and my remedy to the absent air vent is the modern light/vent combo that, although there's no venting up and out of the house, it cycles the air in the room to eliminate odors and address moisture. They sell them at Menards or home depot. My only other issue, and it may seem silly, is the bed pillows. So stuffed and taut it made sleeping a bit of a challenge.
