A warm welcome to the Forsthaus Reit im Winkl. Reit im Winkl is exactly what you’d imagine a village in the Bavarian mountains to be—cozy with an idyllic town centre, yet very lively with lovely shops and many restaurants. Nestled in a valley, the village of Reit im Winkl is known far beyond its borders and is also known as the “Schneeloch” (guaranteed snow in winter)—boasts extensive cross-country ski trails—considered the most beautiful in the German Alps—stunning winter hiking trails (Panoramaweg), and the lovely Winklmoosalm/Steinplatte ski area right on our doorstep —no need to search for parking! Our two houses, featuring four beautiful vacation apartments, are located on the sunny side of Reit im Winkl / Seegatterl with views of the magnificent mountains, right next to the cross-country ski trail and the bike path leading to the Three Lakes Nature Reserve. The gondola to the Winklmoos/Steinplatte ski and hiking area is within walking distance (about 300 m). All vacation apartments have south-facing balconies or terraces, and the upper-floor apartments also have shared use of the garden, which is spacious and features two seating areas—one for each apartment. In the summer, the bike path runs right in front of the house, leading directly into the nature reserve, which begins right here. Hike directly from the house into the beautiful mountains, to the Winklmoosalm, or to the three swimming lakes—Weitsee, Mittersee, and Lödensee. Here, you can cool off in the clear mountain water. The panoramic view is breathtaking. Our vacation apartments, ranging in size from 100 square metres to approximately 125 square metres, offer plenty of space for 4–6 people (2 or 3 bedrooms) and feature cozy and well-equipped furnishings. Ample parking is available on the private property directly in front of the house. A vacation in Bavaria—it doesn’t get any better than this!
The apartment is located on the first floor of a two-family house. There is also a vacation apartment on the first floor. Both apartments have access to the garden, which features private seating areas, patio furniture, and a grill in the summer. Private parking spaces are located right in front of the house. The apartment is very spacious, featuring 3 bedrooms, a hallway, a bathroom with a toilet and shower, a large, fully equipped kitchen-diner, and a cozy living room with its own south-facing balcony offering views of the natural surroundings.
A cross-country ski trail runs right past the house, and the ski lift to the Winklmoosalm/Steinplatte ski area is within walking distance.
In the summer, the Drei-Seen-Platte is nearby for swimming; it’s a nature reserve—hiking trails pass right by the house, as do bike paths.
Reit im Winkl: A Climatic Health Resort According to Wikipedia, the designation “climatic health resort” is awarded to “localities whose air and climate, according to an expert assessment, possess qualities that are beneficial for recreation and health.” Reit im Winkl was designated a climatic health resort in 1956 and has consistently met the criteria for this designation ever since through its ongoing efforts. One key factor is its elevation, which ensures that summer heat remains moderate and nights stay pleasantly cool. The town is surrounded by extensive mountain forests of the Chiemgau Alps and, in terms of its general climate, belongs to the “Bavarian Alps” climate region. The character of the weather is decisively determined by the local conditions—that is, by the influence of the mountain ranges and valleys on weather patterns. In addition to the natural conditions that ensure good air quality, we actively work to preserve the fresh mountain air by utilizing natural heat sources and providing ample bus service.
