I was not given a suite, I was given a two bedroom duplex space, a king size bed on an upper floor and a set of twin beds below. Obviously a family space. There was no separate sofa/sitting area to watch TV /relax as you expect in a suite and as the hotel advertises on its own photographs of their suite rooms. Reception told me the room 403 I was allocated was classed as a suite. it definitely was not. Travelling as a couple, what use to us is an extra bedroom and extra bathroom? It was a two bedroom space for a family. Why Barcelo allocated it to me when my reservation was made weeks in advance for 2 adults only, I don't know. Did I pay less because I booked through Hotels.com? I paid full cancellation costs and I didn't use any hotel nights here. It is a modern city hotel with business meetings as well as guests. We didn't try the restaurant but the menu looked good. Staff were very helpful. It was well appointed and upscale in furnishings. We had the two-floor suite style room. It was uncomfortably hot on the first night and the air conditioning didn't work. The hotel had no way to mitigate this problem and had no fans to offer us. There are also a few weird things about the layout -- like the only closet to hang things was downstairs away from the sleeping and dressing area.
