Beautifully situated at the edge of old-growth woods within earshot of Chimacum Creek, this two-bedroom home just outside Port Townsend is a picturesque home base for your adventures on the Olympic Peninsula. This tree-lined property is quiet and relaxing, with an abundance of birds and the occasional deer known to frequent the neighboring forest. Yet it's also wonderfully close to the Victorian downtown of Port Townsend, the ferry to Whidbey Island, and state parks in every direction. Olympic National Park is also well within day-tripping distance, just 49 miles west. Built in 2016, this single-story home offers the polish and ease of new construction with windows that frame the old-growth forest outside. Come home from your daily excursions to recline by the TV in the light-filled living room, prepare snacks and appetizers in the spacious kitchen, or head outside to the covered back patio for a barbecue dinner on the gas grill. Other special features of this home include a dedicated office with its own TV and sofa, complimentary WiFi, and a private washer/dryer. This property is listed as pet friendly, which is true, but they charge a fairly hefty pet fee (in my opinion). If you plan to bring a pet, just know that you will have a significantly higher final cost then the listed price-per-night. And you will have to get through most of the booking process to calculate or see the \*actual\* cost of your stay. It just feels so misleading when I search for properties with a specific (low) filter on the price, be left with only a few options to choose from, only to end up feeling like it was pointless to even try and find a reasonable rental. Obviously this review won't matter to anyone in the enviable position of financial security, but for anyone like myself who just wanted an affordable place to stay for a few nights (Christmas or otherwise) I do think you should proceed with caution. House was very clean, well furnished, with good wifi. Would get a 5-star from me if I wasn't so salty. ##### Hannah H. The trail next to the property was fun to go on. It takes about 15 minutes to get from the house to downtown Port Townsend. The only thing that was dirty is the shower curtain in the bathroom connected to the bedroom with the king bed had a lot of mold at the bottom of it. The lights in the house are cool not warm temperature. And it was a little annoying that check our time is 10am when it is 11am at most other properties. ##### Theresa T. The property is the last home on a quiet street with one side tucked against a forested area. We enjoyed spending some time on the back porch, listening to birds. There’s local access to Port Townsend Bay at Kala Point where you can walk along the shoreline. It’s only \~15 minutes to drive to the Port Townsend waterfront. An added bonus: San Juan Taqueria is only a 1.5 miles away (we ate there twice). One flaw in an otherwise pleasant stay was that access to the property was very confusing as two different keypad entry codes (plus an additional entry option through the garage) were provided in the check-in instructions. The main code that was sent in the welcome e-mail was an incorrect one! The correct code was 10 digits long and was difficult to get punched in properly. Don’t be misled by what appears to be a bargain nightly price, as you end up paying twice as much for the rental because of the many fees charged (two of which I have never been charged for by any other host). We were even charged a damage fee, which the host said was “nonrefundable, regardless of whether there are no damages at check out”. We’ve never before experienced having to pay for NOT damaging the property! ##### Deb W. It was relaxing and things were modern and high end. It would be helpful to have instructions on the dishwasher and the bigger television. But we are older people! We had to wash enough dishes for our use while we were there. A very quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed seeing deer in the yard almost everyday. We couldn’t get the front door code to work which wasn’t too much of a problem as we could come and go via the garage. We had to leave the front door unlocked as we could not lock it either. ##### Greta P.
