About this property

Casa Sornano, an apartment with a view of Chianti

  • If you’re looking for charming interiors with a cozy, homey feel, set in a lovely and quiet Tuscan hamlet, surrounded by rolling hills dotted with olive trees and grapevines, then Casa Sornano is for you.

The house is part of a large 19th-century villa steeped in history. The interiors reflect the history of the house and the small village where it is located.

It’s just 20 minutes away from San Gimignano, Castellina in Chianti, Colle di Val d’Elsa, Siena, and Florence.

    The space
Three bedrooms furnished with rustic Tuscan furniture, each featuring an US queen-size double bed, with views of the hills and gardens. Magnificent views of Tuscan sunsets. Mosquito nets on all bedroom windows. Cribs available upon request.

Spacious open-plan kitchen fully equipped with a Miele dishwasher and Miele washing machine, along with a sink, stovetop, oven, cutlery, handmade plates and bowls, pots, moka pot, coffee machine, kettle, and essentials (vinegar, salt, pepper). Antique rustic dining table. Cozy seating area with a designer wicker sofa. High chair available upon request.

Two bathrooms feature sinks, toilets, bidets, and showers.

The apartment is part of a typical Tuscan village and is therefore not an isolated farmhouse. The village is a very quiet, secluded place but still close to all the main tourist attractions, shops, and public services. We do not have air conditioning, but this is an old house with thick stone walls, so it tends to stay cool. The apartment is equipped with a heating system; however, please note that, as of 2026, according to Italian law, heating cannot be used between April 7 and November 8 in the province of Siena.

    Guest access
The apartment and terraces are available for your full enjoyment. The terraces are furnished with a dining table and chairs, a coffee table and chairs, a hammock chair, and a barbecue.

You can park your car under a stone-arched passageway, protected from the sun and rain, which is right outside the apartment. This is especially convenient when you’re carrying heavy luggage, children, or groceries.

    Other things to note
The area offers fantastic opportunities for walks, bike rides, horseback riding, cultural visits to neighbouring villages (San Gimignano, Castellina in Chianti, and Colle di Val d’Elsa are all 20 minutes away; Florence and Siena are 40 minutes away) and visits to wineries.

Please note that a tourist tax (2 euros per day for each guest over 12 years of age, up to a maximum of 5 days from March 1 through October 31) will be collected in cash during your stay.

By regional regulation, the heating temperature in winter cannot exceed 22 degrees. Heating is available from November 1 through April 15.
