For our family, staying at Earn River Cottage was perfect. The location was quiet and peaceful, but it was close enough to Perth that we could easily get groceries or go to dinner. And it was very easy to get on the main roads to Skye, the National Parks or Edinburgh.
When we arrived, there was a very nice welcome basket of goodies for us along with a nice note from the owners with their recommendations on places to eat and things to do. There were all the comforts of home - nice plush robes and slippers, hair dryer and towel warmer in the bathroom, any and all pots, pans, utensils, and whatnot that you'd need in the kitchen including a nice coffee maker and the cutest espresso cups, a wonderful wood stove already laid out and just ready to be lit, a very comfortable couch, and a lovely sunroom where I'd sit each morning before anyone else was up and enjoy my coffee while watching the rabbit and birds starting their day.
Because the weather was mostly rainy/misty, we didn't get a chance to enjoy the outdoor patio and grill, but the comforts inside were just fine for us and having the outhouse with a drying rack inside made doing laundry so nice.
The owners were nice as well. They are very communicative and if there had been a need, we were given phone numbers to reach them. The attention to detail they give to the cottage says a great deal about them and it's all good.
Our vacation in Scotland was one of the very best we've had and our stay at this cottage was a good portion of that. Comfortable, exceptionally clean, and very well appointed. We were all very glad we found this gem!
