Gulf Front Beach House with open concept and elevator and 220 ft boardwalk.

"Sweet Shell-Ter" is a custom built 2,400 square foot heated and cooled Gulf front home with 860 square feet of outside porch and deck areas located at Money Bayou, east of Cape San Blas. The 220-foot-long boardwalk leads directly to the beach and is only steps from the Gulf, a wonderful convenience when walking to the beach. Sweet Shell-Ter is approximately 65 miles east of Panama City, 10 miles east of Port St. Joe and 17 miles west of Apalachicola, and is just off Highway 30-A in Gulf County.

You will love the experience, charm and peacefulness of what is known as "old Florida" along the Forgotten Coast. The beach and Gulf of Mexico are easy to access via the private boardwalk. Your beach vacation home consists of 3.5 bedrooms, 4 water closets, 2 indoor showers, one outdoor shower, and will accommodate up to 7 beach lovers. You have easy access to all three floors by either the 3 stop elevator or stairs.

The first-floor level has 3 full size bedrooms, and the "Hideaway Room", a smaller sleeping space which is a perfect location for kids or adults that is hidden away under the stairs. The Hideaway Room has a twin-size bed, flat screen TV, and two port windows. The North and South Bedrooms share an expanded Jack and Jill bathroom with their own water closets and a common tub and shower. Each of the three full size bedrooms have a ceiling fan and wall mounted flat screen TV. The primary bedroom has a split king bed and the two other full-size bedrooms each have a queen bed. The Master Bedroom has its own private bathroom and a 30 foot by 12 foot screened porch that has comfortable outdoor seating and lounging. You can also gain entry to the screened porch from the South Bedroom. The screen porch allows direct access to the private 220 foot long beach boardwalk and a 10 foot X 10 foot deck for star gazing at night, sunbathing, or just relaxing while listening to the rolling surf. On the first floor you will also find a washer and dryer.

The second floor is an open concept living area with a well-equipped kitchen, 4 foot x 10 foot island, dining table for 8, open desk area, 65-inch flat screen wall mounted TV, Direct TV, Wi-Fi, dining area and half bath with a truly breathtaking view of the Gulf of Mexico. This floor also has a 30 foot by 12 foot covered porch that will captivate you when look directly to the south at the Gulf, or east in view of Indian Pass Beach and Saint Vincent National Wildlife Refuge and to the west in view of neighboring Cape San Blas. The top floor is the perfect open concept and great for family and friends to enjoy together!

The ground floor has under-house vehicle parking for 4 cars and an 11 foot clearance for your boat. There is also ample parking in the driveway, an outdoor shower and grill area.

You will enjoy the quiet neighborhood as Sweetwater Shores Drive is not a through street and there is relatively little traffic. The Money Bayou area is rumored to have been visited by pirates that buried treasure in the area that has eluded being found. So, make sure to do some treasure hunting during your vacation!

Also make sure to bring your fishing gear so you can surf fish from the beach! Please note that the shoreline saltwater fishing license is available to Florida residents only. Non-resident salt water anglers must purchase a regular non-resident saltwater fishing license. You may obtain a fishing license at any bait and tackle store or at the Gulf County Tax Collector's office located in Port St. Joe, 10 miles away. (Also, please note there are exterior security cameras at Sweet Shell-Ter. However, there are no security cameras located in the interior of the home. )

This property is a gem. This is our 2nd time to stay at Sweet Shell-Ter, and it did not disappoint. The house was clean, always has plenty of amenities. And the support and response from the property owners/Mgmt was immediate and on point! The elevator is such a great addition to the location that allows you to get all your kitchen needs to the 3rd floor. The Master Bath shower is to die for! And the adjustable bed...now that was a great new add this year! My wife and kids loved the kayaks. And the location itself is nestled perfectly on the beach. My entire family truly enjoyed our time in Port St Joe! I would highly recommend this location for its cleanliness, amenities and support.

Beautiful beach home with all the amenities. The pictures honestly do not do justice to how wonderful the views are from the house! The house was very clean and had beautifully decorated bedrooms, living room and kitchen area. Kitchen was equipped with everything you need if you enjoy cooking meals on vacation. We had my 86 yr old father in law with us so the elevator in the house was a huge help! The beach was big and not super crowded which made for nice relaxing days. We brought our beach chairs but really didn’t need them….they really did provide most everything you would need. Check in was a breeze and communication from Sheila was top notch! This is definitely one of our favorite beach rentals…we will be back for sure!

Fantastic July 4th

My family had the best time at Sweet Shell-ter during the week of July 4th. The owner’s communication was exceptional. Arrival and departure instructions were clear and concise. Sweet Shell-ter was well-equipped with all the kitchenware we needed to cook and grill throughout the week. The house was impeccably clean. We enjoyed using the provided chairs, boogie boards, kayaks, and other beach items. The elevator was very convenient as well. The porch off the kitchen/great room area was our favorite spot to relax in the mornings and evenings. The beach was fantastic. Overall, Sweet Shell-ter was perfect for our family. 10/10!

We had a wonderful week on the beach! The views from the balcony were incredible! The beach was quiet, Sheila was helpful and attentive when needed. She recommended golf cart companies and we rented a cart for the week. Spending the evening cruising the beach at sunset was a highlight for sure.

Family vacation

We have stayed in the area before but we have never stayed on Indian pass until this trip. We highly recommend this home if you are looking for a peaceful quiet non-crowded beach house. Loved everything about this home. We recommend renting a golf cart! We had so much fun driving it around on the beach. House was equipped for anything and everything you would need for a fun week at the beach.

A beautiful house with an amazing view!!

Sweet Shell-Ter was a perfect getaway. The house is gorgeous! The beach was great and not crowded at all. If you are looking for a low-key beach vacation away from crowds, this is it!!! I would/will definitely stay again. Contact with Sheila and Steve was easy and they were super quick to respond. If you stay here I highly recommend trying Uptown Raw Bar, and if you want some good ice cream hit up the Sugar Shack. I can go on and on, but this house and the surrounding area was spot on and exactly what I was looking for and then some.

Absolutely stunning beachfront home!

Wow!!! This immaculate home is gorgeous, the beach is beautiful, and Sheila & Steve are amazing hosts! We have been vacationing in this area for years and this home exceeded all expectations. No detail has been missed from the abundance of amenities to the exquisite decor. The views are stunning from both floors and the boardwalk makes the short walk to the sand effortless. Ahhhhh-mazing!!!

We have visited several locations along the Panhandle: From Ft Morgan to Port St Joe. This beach house was by far the cleanest, best decorated, best supplied, most equipped and most functional that we have stayed in 15 years. The owners were very communicative prior to our stay, providing tons of information, and clear instructions for our stay/check-in/out. The location is as described, and pictures are accurate and still don't do it justice. This place is a gem! When you arrive, you have your own driveway (standard), and have an elevator waiting for you as you enter the location. You can load all your luggage and kitchenware. This was SO useful. All of the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, and the best shower ever made in the Master. I can't tell you enough about this shower! The screened in porch on the 2nd floor provides shelter from rain, bugs...whatever. While the patio on the 3rd, is open for breathtaking views of the beach. Laundry machines available. They even provided starter supplies like toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish soap, and dishwasher detergent. The vacuum got a lot of use to keep up with the sand that tracks in regardless of how well you wash off. And the third floor living space is just so well planned out. The island was spacious, kitchen FULLY stocked, and a great sized TV. The outdoor shower for beach return was private, and there is plenty of spaces to sit outside. Kayaks were awesome! Wooded path to beach so helpful. And I ran out of space!

This house has everything you need and more! It was so well equipped not to mention absolutely beautiful. We spent most of our time on the upper deck where there was plenty of comfortable seating for all of us to hang out together. The beach is perfect and not crowded at all! It was a wonderful week.

The Best Beach House EVER!

My husband and I, along with my two Canadian cousins and their significant others, stayed at Sweet Shell-ter the last week of April, 2023. My cousin, who is quite travelled, declared the home was the nicest place she has ever stayed. We all agreed with her. The owners attention to detail, from decor to cleanliness and creature comforts were unparalleled. The elevator was very helpful in conveying luggage and groceries, but the six of us actually enjoyed the 35 steps from ground to the main living area. We felt we were getting good exercise to combat those extra vacation calories! The beach is pristine, and at that time of year, before the summer crowds descend, you almost feel you have a private beach. The seas didn’t cooperate, and we couldn’t go in the water much, because of rip tide risks, but we didn’t miss it . We rented a 6 seater golf cart and enjoyed trips up and down the beach, when we wanted to go further than our feet could carry us. The bird sanctuary to the West was particularly enjoyable, both for nature watching and collecting large shells along the shore. The towns of Appilachacola and Port St. Joe, to the East and West, have wonderful restaurants and great shopping. I couldn’t recommend this home more! We will be returning.

Best Experience

This home was truly one of the best vacation rentals my family has ever stayed in. The owner, Sheila, had the best communication and was so pleasant to work with. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need. Being right on the beach was the best part! Lastly, the town had several places to eat and shop. We went to the White Marlin our last night and it was a great experience. Overall, we couldn't have picked a better home to stay in for our vacation!!
