An amazing place with a fascinating history and incredibly beautiful surroundings. The staff were mixed - some excellent, some medium. The restaurant is an beautiful environment with views of the forest on 3 sides. The food there is fine but extraordinarily expensive, e.g. $60 for an open face sandwich.

This was the most amazing hotel I've ever stayed in. I hopped on the Metro from Oslo City then walked the 10 mins in an amazing Spring mist which gave a fairytale feel to the hotel (to others it may have been horror movie esque as long roads, can't see very far etc but each to their own). After checking in the spotless room (check in was unbelievably straightforward) and marvelling in the serenity of the peace and quiet I checked out the pool, gym and sauna which are all very well maintained and just added to the overall experience. The area surrounding the hotel has trials and forests aplenty so if you're hiking, base yourself here as the views are outstanding even on the metro journey up too! Can not recommend the hotel enough!

A dream of a retreat. A 35 minute metro journey from Oslo S station and a 10 minute walk reveals a stunning secluded hotel that hides many annexes. The views and trails close to the hotel are astounding and the silence……is deafening - just the birdsong to listen to - heaven. The expert staff are knowledgeable and efficient in their responses and the many rooms - I am sure we didn’t find them all - are all clean and comfortable with many aspects of the hotel’s history on show. This is a fantastic place to stay. The breakfast is plentiful and with much choice and some mornings the cooked choices could have been warmer. A minor criticism for what is one of our standout stays. You even get a spectacular sunset in the staff car park around the back if you are not fortunate enough to be allocated one of the rooms to the left as you walk down the main hall away from the reception area.

Room was beautiful. The entire property is filled with painting, sculpture, warm elegant design details. We walked from the metro and it is a bit of a hill but not too long and worth it for the views and privacy.

Welcoming staff who spoke excellent English. They gave us helpful recommendations for sledding with young children. Swimming pool was great. Buffet breakfast fantastic (cereals, bacon/egg, continental and self-make waffles). Check if there are extra charges for parking and the pool, as the hotel policy was changing while we were there (didn’t effect us as we had booked before changes).

Great location, perfect for a break from the city.

The location and facilities - particularly the restaurant, pool, sauna and outdoor spaces - were perfect for us to unwind and slow down in our short break away from the city. The hotel was very responsive before our arrival, helping to secure restaurant bookings for two dinners and lunch. Our first dinner booking wasn’t included on the list at the restaurant, so we did have to wait a little longer than expected to be seated and served. Probably because this flustered the staff a little, we also weren’t given the wine list with our menus. But when we were able to order and eat, both the food and wine were excellent. While we had been looking forward to the smørbrød, we ultimately skipped our initial plan to have lunch here, in favour of a trip to Holmenkollen. Not only were the front desk staff happy to accept this last-minute change (just a couple of hours before our booking), they also demonstrated their excellent knowledge of the area with some great tips for our visit to the ski jumps. Our second dinner was the Sunday platter, which we thoroughly enjoyed in the relaxed setting of the terrace, soaking up the evening sunshine. Our junior suite was clean, spacious and comfortable. The only real negative for me was the lack of a kettle, although so many hotels seem not to offer one these days.

Wir hatten ein Standard Zimmer dass nicht so groß war mit kleinem Bad aber immerhin mit Fußboden Heizung. Der Ausblick aus dem Zimmer war o.k. Das Frühstück war top. Alles sehr geschmacklich hergerichtet. Die Lage der Hotelanlage war hervorragend. Nicht so sehr gefallen und für ein 5 Sterne Haus nicht o.k. waren für 2 Nächte die unangenehmen Geräusche der Heizkörper Leitung. Die Parkgebühren scheinen in den Skandinawischen Länder von 150 Kronen und noch teurer normal zu sein.

Tolle Lage im Grünen, ruhig. In 10 Min zu Fuß bei der Bahn in die Stadt. Sehr freundliches Personal. Sauberes Zimmer und schönes Bad. Frühstück auch gut. Abendessen zu teuer. Speisesaal (Abendessen und Frühstück) kein nettes Ambiente. Hallencharakter. Zumindest beim Abendessen sollte man ein Tischtuch erwarten können. Für den Preis einfach lieblos. Tagessuppe 245.-, Vorspeise (3 Lachsstückchen) 325.-,Hauptspeisen um die 500.-, halber Liter Bier 189-225,…aber gar nicht geht der Preis fürs E-Tanken: pro 8h mit 3,7kv (=max 30kv) 220Kronen. In anderen (Kategorie ähnlich) Hotels: Voll laden 150 bzw 200 Kronen. Management macht sich nichtmal die Mühe den Preis, der angeblich seit einem Jahr gilt, von 200.- auf 220.- am Modul auszubessern. Also Achtung bei angeschriebenen Preisen-alles ohne Gewähr! Auch das Schwimmbad kostet bei Nutzung üppige 200.- extra. Schade, dass hier die Gäste bei den Nebenkosten abgezockt werden.
