Resident Eagles & Huge Fire Pit! The Deception Pass Getaway is a privately owned 1300 square foot, two story, three bedroom, 1 and 3/4 bath level sandy beach West side waterfront vacation home. The vast views of Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, snow capped Olympic Mountains and spectacular sunsets are just amazing! The abundance of wildlife, including resident eagles surround you on a daily basis. For beachcombers and explorers it is an ever changing delight, with plenty of agates to find. Deception Pass State Park is a short hike down the beach. Roasting marshmallows around the huge fire-pit while listening to the waves crashing on the beach, makes for a very relaxing vacation. For the avid fisherman, make sure to bring your gear. You can fish for salmon and flounder right from your own private beach, directly in front of the house. This great beach house is situated on the top of a natural extended sand berm. The house sits back from the shoreline about 150’ and has a nice size yard in between the home and the beach. The property supports old growth trees, natural vegetation, sea grass and sand dunes bordered with layers of driftwood . The main level interior of the home gives you that great beach house feel with the knotty pine walls and large brick fireplace. The entire upstairs is the Master Suite, which was added onto the home in 1978\. Then in 2005 the Master bathroom was updated and a lovely deep soaking tub was installed. There is a newer king bed in the upstairs master suite, and queen beds in each of the two main level bedrooms. Other amenities include a dishwasher, microwave, propane fireplace, and washer & dryer. The home is located in between NAS Whidbey and Deception Pass and is a short drive to historic La Conner and Anacortes, gateway to the San Juan Islands. Situated at the end of a dead end street, the only traffic to speak of is an occasional low flying aircraft from the Navy base. Cranberry Lake, and Deception Pass State Park, are just a short distance North down the beach if you are up for doing some hiking or fishing on Cranberry Lake. For those of you who are into mountain biking, there are great trails at Hoypus Point to ride on nearby. You can see NAS Whidbey to the South, and will incur some jet noise during flight practice. Most kids and some adults really enjoy watching the planes fly overhead, and think of it as 'The Sound of Freedom'. On nearby Fidalgo Island there is even more to explore at Pass Lake, which is known to be excellent for fly fishing. There is also a nearby public boat launch and park on Coronet Bay. We have recently started using VRBO’s rate recommendations, so the reservation rental rates may increase or decrease each day. The house was stocked better than I've ever seen a vacation rental with little things that are appreciated like tissue boxes in every room, extra blankets, laundry detergent, sharp kitchen knives, etc. The fire pit out by the beach in the driftwood "forest" was perfect for a fire while the kids crawled among the driftwood. Property description was accurate. We had a brief hiccup when a plumbing issue occurred, but both agent and owners were quick to respond and the issue was resolved. House has character, beds were comfy, appreciated the well supplied kitchen and great outdoor space. We needed a bit of "away" time from our house here in Seattle after most of the past year in staying in and nearby. This place gave us exactly the getaway we needed for a long weekend. The place was super clean and a very cute house on the water with quick access to the beach. It offers super close access to everything we needed in the nearby town of Oak Harbor. Bonus was getting to watch a few navy planes come by for some landing practice. We lucked out with two beautiful sunsets too. Everything lived up to expectations with the bedrooms and living spaces. Getting to spend time in front of the gas fire in the evenings while watching TV with the family made for a peaceful and restful time too. We noticed the Netflix option on the remote and made use of that with our own account. One small hitch that didn't detract is that the wifi went out on our first night. It came back after a quick reboot of the router. ##### Darren L. The location was perfect, right on the beach and within walking distance of Deception Pass. We enjoyed the use of the fire pit. My son and daughter's boyfriend took a dip in the Sound, too cold for me... We played games and had great family time in the cabin. Hopefully this will be repeated in the not-too-distant future... ##### John T. The stay a Deception Pass Getaway was truly amazing. The house was accurately depicted and had some cool interior (old looking but had a lovely cabin vibe to it). The check in process was extremely easy and all instructions were easy to follow. The master bedroom was amazing - perfect view of the ocean, bathtub to relax and read in and plenty of space for a couple. The patio outside was where we ate dinner which was a pleasant way to enjoy the evening dinner and the kitchen was fully stocked with cookware needed (only thing needed was some olive oil!). Once you step outside past the patio, you walk directly into the fire pit - no need to bring firewood because there is dried driftwood all around the beach area that burns quickly. Just past the fire pit is the beach - sandy beach with some pebbles here and there. The ocean felt great to take a dip in on a hot and sunny day! Plus, we saw load so wildlife - baby seal pups, eagles, ospreys! They don't allow dogs that larger than your typical medium-size dog which was a bummer as our doggies would have loved the beach, but it's understandable. The property manager worked with me on answering all of my questions quickly and was easy to contact - thank you April! I would absolutely come back here again and encourage anyone looking for a weekend away from the chaos of the city, maybe some meditation or just the desire to listen to the beautiful sounds of nature - come to this place!!! ##### Aubrey M. ### 10/10 – Excellent #### Jim M., monroe, WA 22 juill. 2020 Points forts : Propreté #### LOVE THIS PLACE Lovely, well stocked house. Great views and wonderful outdoor patio and yard. Such an awesome beach with great beachcombing. We put in many miles on the long stretch of beach during our four day stay. The Sunset was gorgeous and the kitchen well stocked. Great access to the beach, and the fire pit was lovely. Only callout for anyone sensitive to noise is that jets from the Naval air base do go overhead throughout the weekdays and it's quite loud. Otherwise amazing. ##### Katelyn R.
