The Cowshed is quality accommodation, quirky yet spacious, a 15-20 minute walk to a range of local amenities including a small supermarket, deli, bakers, butchers, chemist, Post Office, cafes, & good pubs. There are lovely country views from the property both to the front and rear. There are pine floors throughout. Downstairs there is a large open plan living area with a log-burner and a fitted kitchen, fully tiled wet room with heated floor, large sunny, private courtyard with side entrance door. Upstairs is the open plan bedroom, with kingsize bed, original beamed vaulted ceiling, sitting area (sofa bed) and balcony with seating perfect for breakfast and evening drinks, watching the sun go down. This large room has lovely views; Juliet balcony to the front and and patio doors to the rear, opening onto a decked balcony with glass panels and stainless steel handrails, overlooking the walled courtyard garden. The garden has outside furniture, chiminea, a water feature and garden art. Nearby, Bovey Castle in a magnificent setting, has excellent golf, fine dining and bistro. National Trust Castle Drogo is a few miles away and many other attractions and beauty spots are within easy travelling distance. Dartmoor has so much to offer, rugged tors and beautiful landscapes, quaint villages and river walks. There are the famous Dartmoor ponies and Highland cattle grazing with sheep on the open moor, many good pubs as you tour around and tea rooms so you can experience the Devon Cream Tea! You will never tire of the scenery, sunsets and peaceful locations, visitors often return again and again and find new treasures each time. We welcome short breaks and can be flexible with changeover day, depending on other bookings. We do not allow dogs in the property, and is a non-smoking property. We are happy to offer short breaks in low and mid seasons, some periods with NHS discount please enquire. Outside: The Cowshed has its own private walled garden, decked throughout with planters and bed of hostas surrounding the water feature. Wall art and chiminea for autumn evenings, table and chairs and sunloungers for lazy days. The courtyard is an incredibly sunny spot and enjoys sun into the early evening. The last of the sun can be accessed from the first floor balcony for an evening drink or al fresco meal. There is ample parking on the main driveway and from the bedroom to the front of the property you have lovely country views and can watch our hens and ducks enjoying Sloncombe life. Occasionally you can see deer and other wildlife in the paddock opposite. We are surrounded by fields and farm land in a small hamlet, a truly peaceful place yet not far from the village for essentials. There are walks directly from the property if you choose to leave the car at The Cowshed for a change. Another Devon property is Morocco House, we also have Cornwall cottages. moortoseacottages

Ideal place to unwind. Very quiet and peaceful with good restaurants close by. The Cowshed is comfortable and well equipped and our host was very welcoming and happy to assist with any queries.
Had a lovely few days in this beautiful barn. It was a home from home and had everything i needed. The upstairs room is wonderful for enjoying the scenery and relaxing! Wendy was fabulously helpful in providing directions and i'd gladly comeback!
Really lovely and attentive hosts who were happy to give advice on the local area. Wendy gave our son the opportunity to feed the ducks, which he loved.
Really lovely barn…the log fire was so cosy. The kitchen had everything we needed and we loved the open plan space.
It was peaceful and not to far away from day trips out. We loved the area and would definitely look to return!
Really nice owners, in a really relaxing atmosphere of Dartmoor. We enjoyed it to stay there in the fully equipped old cowshed, modern furniture included. Space was for the four of us more than enough. The position was perfect to get within not a lot of time by car anywhere else in Dartmoor. If we will return to Dartmoor, for sure there again
We loved the Cowshed. It's roomy, yet cozy. The decor is lovely. Wendy is a great host. She provided concise directions and gave great recommendations for sites to see and places to eat. We had everthing we needed!
We were always happy to get back to our home away from home.
Five stars!
Great facilities for up to 4 people. Dishwasher, washing machine including tumble dryer - simply everything is available. The road to the apartment itself is an experience in itself. Beautifully situated just outside Moretonhampstead. From there you can quickly reach the moor, Exeter or Torquay by the sea.
We'd love to come back.
The Cowshed is a perfect place to stay .Wendy and Mark were there to meet us and were very helpful. the property was perfect and the courtyard garden was lovely. I would highly recommend staying there.

Peaceful and spacious
Great location centrally located in Dartmoor. Close to Moretonhampstead for the pubs and restaurants. Big enough for a family to have a relaxing getaway. Wendy and Mark are great hosts and really look after their property well.
A little jewel of a holiday home - wondefully refurbished. Beautiful, quiet surroundings and very friendly owners. We felt at home at once! Our teenage girls just loved feeding the ducks...
Loveley decorated holiday home with a terrace. Wendy and Mark are very attentive landlords. The holiday home is the ideal place to explore Dartmoor.
Thank you,
Family Wilke from Germany
Apart from a problem with the oven not working which the owners did everything possible to try and remedy, the property was perfect for the quiet weekend we’d planned.
Lovely property in a wonderful setting with very helpful and friendly hosts Wendy & Mark
The accommodation was as described on the website and offered all our requirements and a great location for exploring Dartmoor and it’s village.
Highly recommended
My wife and I can fully recommend the Cowshed
It is in an ideal location in private and secure grounds
The property does not lack anything that is needed for a comfortable stay
The communication prior to our stay was informative and Wendy and Mark are wonderful hosts
The Cowshed has been tastefully restored by Mark and Wendy and the roaring fire a welcome greeting on our arrival. A cosy retreat to return to after a day exploring the beautiful changing colours of autumnal Dartmoor. Mark and Wendy were very helpful and guided us in our choice of both areas to visit, as well as places to eat. A lovely break.
Had a lovely long weekend at the cowshed during a fabulous heatwave. So peaceful and relaxing sitting on the decking in the sunshine. The owners were very helpful when we needed to contact them. Great location for exploring Dartmoor. Would definitely return.
The Cowshed is an exceptionally well-converted and furnished, with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. Communication with the owners was easy and we had everything that we needed in the property. We especially enjoyed the balcony and the very spacious bedroom. It is in a beautiful part of Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor but close to the small town of Moretonhampstead and the village of Chagford.
Beautiful, luxurious cottage in stunning surrounds
We had an absolutely amazing time. The cottage was beautiful - well-appointed, equipped with all modern amenities including a well-stocked kitchen. Very spacious and full of light, great outdoor space too. The location was also excellent- close to lots of stunning walks and scenic routes, as well as a walk away from shops, restaurants and bus stops. The hosts Wendy and husband were so kind, welcoming and hospitable, sharing many helpful tips with us about the surrounding area. Would highly recommend!
