Thank you so much for considering The Monkey Barrel for your home while visiting Nantucket. We call this house “The Monkey Barrel” because with all of the fun, laughter, and antics that take place while we’re at the beach…this house sometimes happily feels like a barrel of monkeys! Comments on why our rates fluctuate so much during the year, as well as a full itemization of fees, are included at the end of this description. This is a renovated home with every comfort in mind including zoned air conditioning and heating throughout. Main level: Open kitchen with breakfast bar and living room with new TV and stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, living room furniture, and hardwood floors. Two bedrooms include a master with a king bed, TV, and comfy reading area, and the second offers two full beds. Shared full bath with cast iron tub and custom tile. 2nd Floor: Very large wet bar with granite countertops and living room area with a new TV, wine refrigerator, bar refrigerator, and living room furniture. Two bedrooms each contain a queen bed. Shared full bath with cast iron tub and custom tile. Lower Level: Kitchenette with granite countertops. Two bedrooms, each with two twin beds. Full laundry room and exit to back patio. Shared full bath with tub and shower. Outdoor mahogany patio with built-in Viking commercial-grade propane grill, outdoor shower, eight-person hot tub, and seating for 20+ people. Backyard fence ideal for kids and dogs! Comfortable house for entertaining a large group. Ample parking in the house’s driveway for 3+ cars. A quick 2-mile bike ride or walk to Surfside Beach and <1-mile walk to downtown Nantucket on the bike trail across the street from the house! The Wave shuttle bus stop is also half a block away. This is a convenient location close to town and beaches, restaurants, and shopping. Nantucket offers year-round attractions, from family-friendly activities or a romantic getaway, something athletic, historical, or cultural, top-notch dining, or a lobster bake on the beach…all within close proximity. An important comment on rates: Nantucket's summer season is very short and there are many special weekends during the spring and fall months; as a result, we have a very short window for seasonal rentals. Our rates reflect the popularity of certain weekends and our refundable security deposit (listed as a "property fee") also reflects the standard "wear and tear" on the house during these times (security deposit is $700 for any stay over three nights, except Figawi weekend, when it's $2500). The location was perfect and everything was a quick Uber ride or walk (to the beach:) away! The home had every amenity and was immaculate and well laid out for our group of 8 women. Beds were super comfortable and we really enjoyed sitting outside on the back deck. Kirby was incredibly responsive and would love to rent this house again. We just had a group of 12 out for my wife’s birthday and the Monkey Barrel was the perfect spot. Clean, centrally located and across the street from a cute little coffee shop we could not have asked for anything more. We split our time between the house, downtown and the Brewery and nothing was more than a five minute ride away. We even walked to town one day in about 20 minutes. Everyone had their own bed, the yard was perfect for being outside and the hot tub was a wonderful touch. The hosts were terrific with communication and so friendly. We have been coming down for Thanksgiving weekend for several years now and have always gotten a number of hotel rooms but this year we thought we would find a house for an extended (Wednesday-Sunday) stay and the Monkey Barrel worked out perfectly with plenty of beds for everyone and two separate living rooms allowing us to split up and watch multiple things while we hung out killing time. The house also had everything necessary to prepare meals which made the trip a little more convenient rather than eating out each meal. Kirby the owner was responsive, honest and very supportive of everything we needed. Overall - an awesome experience and will definitely look to use the property again in the future! Having the upstairs wet bar, the grill, and hot tub were all a huge plus for hanging at the home. The house is in a great location with a cute cafe across the street for morning coffee, Stop and Shop a short walk or bike ride down the road, and a few other spots close by (The Muse, Yummy). Communication between the host was quick and accommodating and the house was extremely clean upon arrival. The only caveat I would make is to follow the Welcome Guide and make sure to schedule disposal of your own trash if it exceeds the designated barrel. Costs will be taken out of the deposit if there's an excessive amount. Either way, I would definitely stay at the Monkey Barrel again! Amazing house on island! ##### Danielle C. Unfortunately due to Hurricane Jose and ferry cancellations, our family was only able to enjoy 2 out of the scheduled 4 days at the Monkey Barrel. Kirby, one of the homeowners, was easy to communicate with and dud crefit us for one nights stay, which we were most appreciative of. This home was fully stocked with every type of utensil, appliance, glassware, dishes that you could possibly need for your vacation here. All 6 bedrooms were nicely decorated and the beds quite comfortable. The yard was definitely the entertainment spot! Built-in weber grill, refrigerator, ice maker and the cherry on top.....the hot tub! Plenty of seating and plenty of room for lawn games. It's a bike ride to Surfside Beach, which is one of the best beaches on the island (snack bar, lifeguards, and surfing waves). It's a bike ride to town as well as to the grocery store. The location couldn't be better. It's clean, and well cared for. Kirby is great to deal with, and provides a detailed over view of the house and the island which I referred back to several times!
