OBX rental

The house was very clean and easy to find. Beautiful interior! Kitchen immaculate! Front Entrance and Driveway Upon pulling up to the front door the first thing we noticed was the overwhelming array of discarded cigarette butts strewn around the entrance and the driveway…absolutely disgusting! The second thing we noticed was the rotting drywall and other debris in the alcove to the front door adjacent to the trach/recycle bins. There too were a lot of discarded cigarette butts. Parts of driveway itself are in serious disrepair. Outside light not working, difficult seeing door keypad in dark Main House The water to the house had been shut off. Called the maintenance phone number a Ted came out right away and resolved the issue. The heat on the bottom floor never worked. At one point I set the thermostat to 78 degrees and it only got to 66 degrees. The ceiling fan in the “Blue Sky” bedroom was so off balance when we switched it on we thought it was going to fall out of the ceiling. It also made a horrendous noise. We could have moved but for the price we were paying we didn’t think it should be broken. If it is broken, repair it or take it down Could not figure out how to work the sound system for the stereo or TV and there were no instructions available. If it doesn’t work get rid of it. If it does work, provide some instructions…VERY FRUSATRATING! Game Room The game room was especially cold and it was difficult to play pool due to the chill. Minor, but there was no chalk for the pool cues. Looked like there was “Hockey Game” boards to place on pool table but to other items to play. Due to the amount of rain the area received there was a large flood on the concrete slab just outside the game room. At one point I thought the water was going to come in the sliding door Hot Tub At 60 degrees when we arrived and it took 2 days to warm to an acceptable temperature. This should have been heated and ready to go before we arrived. Beach Walkway Total disrepair and dangerous…rotted boards, exposed nails, torn and broken spindles, railing and seats. For goodness sakes, just repair it or tear the seat out. VERY DANGEROUS!

Great location

House is perfectly located in Nags Head and has beautiful views from the spacious living room! Kitchen is nicely laid out and fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses.... and even has two dishwashers which we were grateful for! The elevator was a plus for hauling groceries up to the kitchen. Unfortunately, the ground floor rooms are very musty smelling. And we found mold on the pool table. The ground floor could definitely use a dehumidifier. Majority of the sliding glass doors did not lock and the sliding door from the living room to the deck kept coming off of the track (even after Maintenance tried to repair it). The property manager was very responsive when we had issues (faulty cable box in one bedroom, broken dvd player in living room, beeping smoke detector in hallway and the sliding door issues.) They sent a Maintenance person pretty quickly. But overall the property needs some attention. The boardwalk to the beach was covered with vines so we took knives to the vegetation and cut it back. The boardwalk railings were loose with missing boards that could be hazardous if one wasn't careful. Regardless, we all had a great time cooking meals together in such a nicely stocked kitchen and enjoying the days on the beach.
