Compass Rose 31 - Three Bedroom, Two Bath Oceanfront Condo

Compass Rose 31 is a three-bedroom, two-bath oceanfront condo located 2.1 miles south of Garden City Pier. This condo features a fully-equipped kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances including a microwave and dishwasher as well as a washer, dryer, and central heat and air conditioning. Three TVs with Amazon Fire Sticks (Smart TV in living room) and Wi-Fi are included. Sleeping accommodations include two queen and two twin-sized beds, one with trundle, plus one queen-sized sofa bed. Outdoor amenities include a screened porch, small balcony, direct access to beach and pool, and use of Inlet Pointe boat dock (no overnight docking). Complex has a handicapped accessible elevator. No golf carts. No trailers. No smoking. No pets. Maximum occupancy: 9

Conveniently located close to some of the best area attractions, Garden City Beach is directly south of Surfside Beach and ends on a peninsula at the mouth of Murrells Inlet. One of the most renowned attractions in Garden City Beach is the Pier at Garden City. Other points of interest include Marlin Quay Marina and restaurants Sara J's Seafood Restaurant, Gulfstream Cafe, and Original Sam's Corner.

Just south of Garden City Beach is Murrells Inlet, a seaside community considered the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina" and home to some of the nation's best golf courses. Once primarily a fishing village, the town is best known for the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, a half-mile-long boardwalk overlooking a pristine salt marsh, and the many award-winning restaurants along Highway 17 Business in the central business district.

Brookgreen Gardens, a sculpture garden and wildlife preserve built on four former rice plantations, is located slightly south of the MarshWalk. It features several themed gardens with American figurative sculptures, trails through several nature reserve ecosystems, and the Lowcountry Zoo.

If you're looking for places to shop, The Market Common, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, two Tanger shopping outlets, Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade, and many more shopping facilities are all within an easy drive from Garden City Beach.

Looking for entertainment and attractions? Take in a show at Pirates Voyage, Medieval Times, Alabama Theater, The Carolina Opry, or Legends in Concert. Then visit SkyWheel Myrtle Beach, Ripley's Aquarium, WonderWorks, Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium, Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center, and The Pavilion Nostalgia Park.

Other points of interest close by include the waterfront community of Georgetown, the third oldest city in South Carolina and the second largest seaport in South Carolina, and historic Conway, with its downtown Riverwalk area nestled on the banks of the Waccamaw River. Both towns include fine dining, shopping, and historic sites.

Take a day trip to Charleston to experience shopping, a harbor cruise, a city carriage tour, or a plantation tour. Charleston is only 87 miles from Garden City Beach - approximately two hours. It's a picturesque and exquisitely preserved southern city with antebellum architecture, cobblestone streets, and historical landmarks.

A Week At The Beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We found unit 31 at Compass Rose a wonderful place to stay in Garden City. There are only 8 units and it was quiet. We had plenty of room for the three adults and especially loved the screened in back porch overlooking the pool and facing the ocean. We also enjoyed the master bedroom balcony in the mornings, having coffee and watching the boats going out from Marlin's Quay Marina. It was clean and very well equipped and convenient for dinners in Murrell's Inlet which has many wonderful restaurants. Would love to return to Compass Rose.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have rented this unit the last (3) years and were very pleased with the updates. We did have some issues with the cable connection but finally it was resolved. The only issue is that we have been staying at Compass Rose for over 20 years and there are repairs needed to the over all property. Roof leaked in Units 41 and 42 which we also rented this year, various plumbing issues, stairwells were not clean, step treads loose, landings and screened in porches in need of repair and sprucing up. Pool guy great but garbage overflowing so probably need addl garbage receptacles.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Unit needs a complete detailed cleaning. The base boards had a lot of dirt and dust, especially behind the beds. Unit is very outdated with the furniture. A lot of hand written notes taped with scotch tape thoughout the unit not to move furniture. Seeing the notes made you feel not welcomed! Compass Rose has a fantastic oceanfront view and having a screened balcony was a plus! Unless the owners spruce up the unit, we would probably not stay in the that unit again.

We love our Kentucky Clan vacations and the wonderful friends we have made staying at Compass Rose. Garden City Realty has been great to work with and have gone out of their way over the years to accommodate our needs. While we love Compass Rose, we do feel some of the condos need updating. However, we have already made our 2013 reservations! Garden City is a perfect place for the perfect family vacation!

We usually stay in the 1st floor unit rental by Dunes which had very updated equipment and king beds with very plush matresses. It would be nice to see Rose 31 update the wall paper in the LR, size of TV's (could hardly see the ones in the Bedrooms if you turned them on then the remote would work, 2 remotes for TV in LR),twin beds need to be tightened they wabbled and install tile vs carpet. There were signs everywhere, do not move this, do not move that, Makes one not feel very welcome. Would I stay in 31 again, probably not if other units are available.

The condo was great and the amenities were better than anywhere we have stayed in previous years. Having The Gulf Stream cafe across the street was just an added treat. The only thing that was a drawback was walking over the dune to the beach and not having the ocean right at our doorstep. Access to the beach would be very difficult for anyone with a disability. Overall it was a wonderful place to stay. Nice pool, great view, picture perfect beach plus Books, cookbooks and a guide to Ireland on the shelf...Perfect!

So nice to hear ocean during the night. Unit is clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the "nautical" decorating, especially the low country art work and still life photography. Amenities were all one could ask for in a rental condo. Would reccomend possible microwave replacement, old but usable. Wood moulding and bathroom floors starting to show some aging.
