The grave of Georgia's first president, Zviad Gamasakhurdia. His death, officially attributed to suicide, is still a frequent topic of conversation among men in the extremely macho political culture of Georgia. Gamasakhurdia was exiled to the restive Russian region of Chechnya and his grave was briefly lost in the Chechen capital of Grozny during the civil war of the 1990s. His grave was eventually rediscovered and he was reburied in the Mtatsminda Pantheon.

The Citrus was a perfect location for my visit. The staff were excellent, my room was perfect and the breakfasts are great. I'll stay there next year- my 33rd consecutive year of working in Georgia.
