Sage Cottage, Blockley - sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
Sage Cottage is a true Cotswold home in a village setting which has a wonderful sense of community. Set on the quiet High Street you arrive through the muddling streets of Blockley. One of a row of similar properties, Sage Cottage covers three floors with a raised garden behind.
The ground floor has a wonderful kitchen which is waiting to be filled with the delicious smells of baking and cooking while children spend time together in the living room. An open-plan sitting and dining area with a skylight is where you'll spend your evenings with meals extending into drinks on the terraced patio outside. Coming back from walks and visits to nearby landmarks the snug has a wood burner in an inglenook fireplace and is a room which fills you with comfort. Up on the first floor are two bedrooms, one with an en-suite, and a showstopping bathroom with a large rolltop clawfoot bath. Each bedroom has been thoughtfully decorated with wooden furniture and a tranquil colour scheme in keeping with the cottage's name. The master bedroom on the second floor takes you away from the rest of the cottage with a super-king-size bed which you'll adore. With an en-suite shower room you will spend more time than you'd expect up here reading, relaxing, and watching the village through the window.
Outside, the terraced garden is perfect for eating meals outside, or just listening to the birds. From the front door there are numerous walks you can enjoy in the nearby vicinity of Blockley or further to Broad Campden and Chipping Campden. A short drive brings you to Regency Cheltenham Spa, Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton or further north to Stratford-upon-Avon.
Ground Floor
Kitchen: This delightful kitchen has fresh white units, stone tiled floors and wooden worktops and beams giving the traditional cottage style a contemporary edge. Preparing meals you will feel at home in this well-laid-out kitchen with an oven, hob, Belfast sink and enough worktop space. Displayed artwork by local artists shows the nearby woods for a glimpse of the walks you can enjoy.
Living/Dining Room: Two steps up from the kitchen is the open-plan living/dining room with a comfortable sitting area and six-seater dining table. A skylight above the sitting area makes this space light and airy where your group can watch TV after enjoying your homecooked meals. Sections of exposed stone wall contrast with the relaxed decor showing the cottage's past. Patio doors take you out to the raised garden.
Utility/Cloakroom: From beside the dining area is a utility where you'll find the washing machine and an additional fridge with a small freezer space. At the end of this room is a cloakroom with a WC and sink.
Snug: Two steps down from the living room is the cosy snug with a wood burner in a large inglenook fireplace. This room is more traditional with the wooden exposed beams a real feature above the flagstone floor. Enjoy an evening glass of wine, catch up with some work at the desk or just curl up in front of the fire. The mullioned window looks out over the quiet village high street.
First Floor
Bedroom One: The first bedroom is perfect for children with twin beds and a relaxing sage colour scheme. There is a decorative fireplace and a window seat where you can gaze at the village scene between the shutters and try to spot the sheep in the adjacent field.
Bedroom Two: Up a couple of steps is the second bedroom with a king-size bed sitting under a high ceiling and wooden beams. Overlooking the garden this is a peaceful room with the added convenience of an en-suite.
En-Suite Shower Room: A surprising feature in this room is the open stonework behind the mirror which gives this room character. There is a shower, WC and sink so you have your own private space to get ready in the morning.
Bathroom: The main bathroom is a spacious spa-style retreat with a luxurious rolltop clawfoot bath. You will find yourself spending hours here in this tranquil setting. Alongside the bath there is also a shower, WC and sink.Second Floor
Bedroom Three: This master bedroom up under the eaves will be fought over with its super-king-size bed. The whitewashed wooden floor, panelled cupboard and blue and green soft furnishings give this room a breezy seaside feel. The window looks out over the high street and neighbouring cottages to the hill and fields beyond. This is such a relaxing room you will struggle to get up in the morning.
En-Suite Shower Room: The final en-suite is a spacious shower room with a sink and WC. This modern room still keeps its cottage feel with open beams and wooden furniture.
Outside
The dining area doors take you out to the raised garden. The lower terrace has central steps up to a lawned area and then up again to a patio where you'll find the outdoor dining table. This sun trap is a fantastic place for dining al-fresco and soaking in the country air. To the front of the cottage is parking for one car.

Unbelievable Stay
We had an amazing stay here. It was even more spacious than the pictures appeared to show and we had plenty of room for 4 adults, 3 children and a dog. Would definitely consider returning. We loved it!

Perfect cottage for a weekend with friends
This is a first class accommodation with a great layout, comfortable bedrooms and space enough for 6 adults. We were a group of 4 so had lots of space to relax and enjoy the house. The communication from Bolthole Retreats was excellent and everything was very clear, would book with them again and would highly recommend Sage Cottage.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely village
We enjoyed 2 nights in this very spacious and quiet cottage that is within walking distance of 2 pubs and the cafe. There is plenty of room for 3 couples and your furry friend. The fittings/fixtures/decor are of a high quality and the kitchen is well equipped. It is cozy and warm and we would highly recommend as a perfect base for your Cotswolds touring. Would definitely stay again.

Family stay in the Cotswold
I stayed here for 3 nights with my family of four and the grandparents. We were thrilled with the property - it certainly felt 5 star! Everyone had their own space, it was so much bigger than photos showed, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of every room and bathroom.
We had beautiful weather so even made use of the garden terrace for sunset drinks. We made use of the recommendations, walking to the cafe, kids park and country pub.
We would definitely stay here again and will certainly use the bolthole portfolio for our next stay.
This cottage and village was just perfect for Christmas! The cottage was very clean and so cute. We cooked our entire Christina’s dinner there. Everything was available to get it done. They even have two ovens! It is a great size too. We had five adults so with three bedrooms and 3.5 baths it was perfect.

Lovely cottage in a quaint village
Blockley is a quaint village nestled in rolling hills with a fabulous cafe to get your coffee fix and walks around the local hills galore. Lovely and clean cottage, perfect for our group of 6 and twin babies. Only negative is the company makes you check in after 4pm and check-out before 10am with no flexibility which we found a bit unreasonable.

We enjoyed a family weekend at Sage Cottage. Beautiful well kept cottage in quiet, unspoilt location. Fabulous walks from the doorstep. The cottage had everything we required for a family short break away. Would definitely return. Thank you.

Beautiful cottage in a very pretty village
We loved our time in this pretty little cottage. Well equipped, very comfortable and great to be able to park outside. Blockley is beautiful, we've visited a number of times. The village cafe is wonderful and sadly the only decent place to eat in the village, but there are so many great eating places a short drive away. We struggled with TV connectivity in the rear room until we moved a WiFi router from the bedroom into there.

A visit by UK and USA
What an enjoyable village, but most importantly what a dynamic cottage to enjoy our visit. While the cottage entrance stresses its historical significance, however once you enter, you are immediately confronted by up-to-date charm, amenities, and relaxing floor plan to accommodate your stay. An additional gem to the cottage is the parking slot immediately in front of the door. The village is perfectly located to enjoy the exploration of the Cotswold's.

Gorgeous cottage
Sage cottage was beautiful. It was clean, comfortable, cosy and an absolute joy to stay in. It is very well equip with everything we needed in the kitchen and lounge including a log burner in the snug. There are thoughtful and beautiful touches everywhere you look. The surroundings are peaceful, quiet and relaxing. We didn’t make use of the lovely garden due to the weather but could certainly see how lovely it would have been. The cottage is well appointed, easy to find and park up. Blockley is a stunning village with an excellent cafe and shop in walking distance.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and only wished it was longer, genuinely sad to leave.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful village
We were able to get early check in to the cottage which was great and enabled us to leave our car, unpack and have an explore of the beautiful village. We had a late lunch at the village cafe which was very good. Amazing cocktails are to be had in the Crown Hotel which is run by a lovely family where the service was fabulous.
The cottage itself is immaculate and has beautiful decor and first class bathrooms.
Our only criticism was that the kitchen was quite cold as the underfloor heating was only on very low.
Also we were unable to light the wood burner despite several attempts We all have woodburners so it's not user error and this one just was unusable which was a shame as we were looking forward to using the snug but without the log burner it was a cold room.

Sage Cottage
We had a very comfortable stay at Sage Cottage, we would highly recommend the cafe/restaurant in the village, excellent food. The cottage is handy to see plenty of the Cotswold villages and is only 40 minutes to the Cotswold Safari Park, well worth a visit. The cottage would benefit from additional plates and mugs so the dishwasher doesn’t have to be put on every day, but otherwise the cottage is excellent.
Lovely village with some pubs, cafe and a shop and off the main tourist spots.

The sweetest cottage
It was better than what we expected. I loved this place so much. Our family made so many precious little memories. It is cozy and quaint, has its quirks but so does every home with character. We loved the location as it's tucked away at the end of the road, the walk to 'town' was a highlight of mine every morning. If you're questioning about staying in Blockley I say book the place and you won't be sorry.
