We really appreciated the owners personal greeting upon check-in and informing us about the area. We pre-planned a kayaking trip and hiking, but didn’t realize how close we were to Bethel (Woodstock) and didn’t know about the local Saturday farmers market. Those two attractions definitely added to our getaway! Generally very clean, just missed a couple areas. The main reason for 4 of 5 stars is basically the comfort of the beds in the older part of the house compared to my other house rentals over the years (in addition to mattress quality/age, no box spring or proper platform base led to unusual morning back aches). Other points of note: bocce and horseshoe areas were overgrown/not useable and the wifi didn’t work in the older part of the house. Overall we enjoyed our time in Barryville! ##### john s.
