We stayed at Awaikeda honmachi which is a private house but ekimae-shop has 5 rooms and toilet and showers are all shared. The place is basic but clean. We were 6 of us, sleeping on futon on tatami floor in one room. It's a home converted into a small hotel with shared bathrooms and showers. It's kept very clean and we enjoyed our stay there. The only downside was there were no TVs in the rooms. Wasn't expecting English progamming as I live in Japan but just having a chance to watch some evening programming would have made the nights a bit more enjoyable and less quiet. For us, if they had TVs in the rooms we'd probably stay there again. For those that don't care, it's a fine place to stay.
