This has been achieved with a water tank, low energy hot water system and enviro cycle septic system. The cottage makes use of recycled timber, windows and materials. This gives the cottage wonderful personality without compromising comfort. Please note: \- Strictly no parties at this property – please. You will be evicted if this rule is broken. Where will I be? Eco Cottage is located within the Little Forest complex, a collection of 7 cottages spread across 40 acres of grounds. Your cottage will have its own private spaces, but please be aware that other guests may be around as well. Communal spaces include the lawns, gardens, driveway and trails, but you will have plenty of privacy as well. The Little Forest complex has a bush setting and is circled on one side by the Sydney - Melbourne railway line. As a result, trains are audible at times, and for any kids, part of the fun! Little Forest also has various throughout its 42 acres, but please keep children supervised at all times due to wildlife, unfenced dams and trains. Why choose EcoCottage? Eco Cottage is a charming and comfortable base from which to explore the Southern Highlands. Set amongst beautiful gardens and removed from other cottages on the property, Eco Cottage feels like a secluded and comfortable getaway. How is the property laid out? Eco Cottage is reached down a tree-lined country drive way. You approach the house through beautiful gardens and enter into a charming country kitchen and dining area. The front door opens into the open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, cooktop, microwave and a coffee machine that is compatible with Nespresso pods. The bathrooms leads off from the living area. Upstairs is the bedroom with queen bed. Outside is a wrap around verandah with barbeque and seating for four. The railway line is close by so you will see the occasional train go by. Wi-Fi, Internet, Netflix or Pay TV will I have it? Complimentary Wi-Fi is available and a password will be provided in your pre-arrival email. Please note that neither The Holidays Collection nor the owner can guarantee 100% that Wi-Fi will work, and no compensation will be payable if problematic. If Wi-Fi is important, please therefore always have a backup plan. What about outdoors? Eco Cottage is surrounded by lawns and gardens that are open for guests to use. The house is part of a larger 40 acre property which includes bush trails for guests to explore. Please be aware that there is an unfenced dam on the property so children must be supervised at all times. Please note that the tap water in the community BBQ area is not drinkable. This water comes from the dam and is not treated, please do not drink it under any circumstances. The water in Eco Cottage is safe to drink. Keeping warm or keeping cool? Eco Cottage has reverse cycle air conditioning in the lounge area for year round comfort. What about sheets, towels and other supplies? High quality sheets and towels are provided at Eco Cottage. Toilet paper, kitchen soaps, guest soaps and some other supplies are also provided, but please be prepared to top up during your stay as needed. Regarding food, condiments and the like, please plan to bring everything you need. For safety and hygiene reasons, our houses generally do not supply food items. Parking for cars, boats etc? There is off street driveway parking available for multiple cars directly outside Eco Cottage. Is my dog or cat also welcome to stay? Yes, your favourite pet is welcome to stay at Eco Cottage, and please note the following: The yard is not fenced. Please keep your pets off all furniture and beds. Please clean up behind your pet. Please inform us of your intention to bring a pet at the time of booking. What are the minimum stay rules? \- Summer Season: Between 2 and 7 nights, depending on the property \- Easter: 4 nights \- Long Weekends: 3 nights \- All other times: 2 nights Are there any special Summer Season rules? Please note that during Summer Season, our properties may have designated changeover days so as to make the cleaning rosters manageable. We also do not schedule arrivals on the Christmas, Boxing, and New Years Day public holidays. Who will I be dealing with during my stay? There was minimal signage other than the map and names outside the other accomodation. We noticed stains on the couch, and there was someone else's rubbish in the bins in the bathroom. The bed sank under our weight, I weigh 55kg and my partner is 78kg. Worst night sleep, the cabin is right next to a rail line, we saw the freight trains in the morning as we were leaving. We had to book somewhere else to stay the next night, we couldn't stay another night. The bathroom was well renovated though. ##### Joyce H. My wife and I had ten days in Orchard cottage over the Christmas period visiting relatives in the Highlands. The cottage has a lovely country ambience, set near a big dam with ducks to greet you every morning. Fruit trees kept is in fresh fruit including limes for my gin and tonic, and fresh cut hydrangeas from a neighbouring cottage kept the table dressed.It is a lovely place if you are looking for a quiet escape. We has our two dogs who also made the best of the grounds, including chasing the rabbits. Perfect for pet lovers! ##### Richard R. It had character and was a very easy place to stay. Plenty of heating and extra items available to make it a truly comfortable experience. It's a little bigger than the 'tiny house' experience but at no point did we feel like we were in each other's way because it's so well laid out. And we have 3 big dogs too. There is plenty of lawn for the puppies and it's away from the other properties on the premises so you feel like you're in a world of your own. The cottage is right beside a creek and there's a bush track towards the back of the lawn which was nice for our morning walk. It's only a 10 min drive from Mittagong town centre and 17min drive from Bowral town centre. The property managers were super efficient and easy to contact and we felt very welcome. The cottage has living, kitchen and bathroom downstairs and a staircase in the middle which takes you up to the bedroom loft at the top. The shower/toilet room and the kitchen were surprisingly roomy for the size of the cottage. Theres a small bbq, standard gas stove microwave, fridge, oil heaters + fans (top and bottom). We had nibbles and bbq out on the porch while playing scrabble. We took 2 X-large dog crates with us and these fit at the top of the stairs with enough room to walk easily up there. A few things to be aware of: The stairs are narrow and the top few are fairly steep. There is a large shed in the area that you look out at. As it's an eco-cottage, there is no town water so there is a water tank and treatment mechanism on site. I assume that because of this, the cleaning products that are used are not strong chemicals. Becsuse of this, there is a little mould in the shower grout and screen. The exterior of the property could do with a little extra care- some weeding, a paint, oiling of the deck. Overall, it was a lovely stay because it was a great experience and offered everything we needed for our 5 day stay. We had a great time exploring and relaxing in the little cottage. ##### Erin D.
