The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. If you value your sleep do not stay on the ocean side or the top room floor of the property. Every morning at 6 am you will be greeted with the sounds of a leaf blower from the ferry station across the street. It is also along a main road so you will hear any road noise or people in the bars just outside at night. The real kicker was when they hosted a wedding in the restaurant on Saturday night. The band started at 8pm and played for 4 straight hours. Our entire room shook the entire time and the best the staff could do was assure us that it would be over soon. We checked out early because of how little sleep we were getting.

Te Moana is a pleasant hotel. Cleanliness is seen throughout the hotel. Staff is very attentive with Polynesian hospitality.
As others have mentioned the hotel could use a bit of renovations and the rooms do in fact have a "unpleasant smell". The pool area also needs renovations.
All in all it's a nice hotel.
