We didn’t take the meals, and they were served in a dining area, not in the room. But the staff informed us of the early closing hours of locals restaurants and izakaya, and they booked tables for us at both, which was very helpful. They picked us up and dropped us off at the bus stop on arrival/departure. The room was spacious, very clean, with a large window looking out over the forest. I really loved their onsen which is on a balcony, looking at forest and the night sky, it was a mild temperature, not as hot as many onsens, but very nice. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. This inn is located at right in middle of town and parking is very convenient. They have good quality food for dinner and breakfast. It is not 5 stars but it is pretty good cost performance. Besides it’s main hot spring bath, they have 2 private baths if you want privacy or have tattoos. I was a bit concern before I booked Nanjyoen due to the fact that there weren’t many reviews on this property and it completely beaten my expectation. We booked as a family of 4, the room was big enough to fit all of us, there is also a big window in the room where you can have a clear view on the town of Kurokawa. We also booked dinner and breakfast with them, the kaiseki dinner was really good and served in the dining room. Another thing I liked on the property is the onsite onsen. It has an indoor bathing for men and women, also few outdoor bathing to choose from.
