Dirty rooms and unhelpful staff, Booked a King with a kitchenette but was given a Queen standard room.

There was no breakfast when we were there and we sat in line for half hour to be rudely told it’s not their parking and parking fills up . It was not noted anywhere and we were charged $30 for the parking. We had too phone twice to get an answer about the parking problem as there was a lineup of about 12 vehicles. Not Impressed

What a great staff help was very absolutely fantastic from the moment we drove on the property. The parking was excellent. We were travelling for my daughter’s swimming provincials. It was very close to where we had to be. The room was very clean and the bathroom had just been redone. The room we got was a great size two thumb’s up. I would stay there again just for how great the staff was.

It was a quiet and cozy stay with a great location with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby within walking distance. Miles and John we're very helpful with the sign-in process. Will definitely stay again when we're back to Edmonton

I recently stayed at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton,. I understand that the hotel is historic and quite old, &we expctd that going in. However, for a 4star hotel with such good reviews, our experience was unfortunately disappointing. The hotel itself is well maintained in some ways, &the room was generally clean, but the overall atmosphere was not very welcoming. When we first entered, the lobby felt gloomy and dark, and there was an unpleasant smell. Only one elevator was working during our stay, &it took quite a long time to arrive and get us to our floor. When we entered our room, it was also quite dark and had a strong carpet smell, almost as if the carpet had recently been washed but had not completely dried. The pillows looked clean, but they had an old smell. The blanket was clean and smelled like laundry soap, but unfortunately, it was very itchy &uncomfortable. There were also no toothbrushes provided, whch was inconvenient, esp after traveling a long distance. There was no complimentary bottled water either, so we had to purchase our own. Parking was also an additional cost, which was another inconvenience. For a hotel of this standard, I expectd at least some basic amenities and conveniences for guests. Overall, this stay was frustrating because we expected more from a 4star hotel, especially considering its reputation and reviews. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and considers improving these areas for future guests.
