The Hotel was lovely the staff were polite the rooms were clean but only problem was the toilet was really low and my mum had mobility problems also we found that it was really low for the other family members. It was nice and accessible in the Hotel but too get to the Hotel pool and gym it was a rather long walk and to the other bar where the golfing was. I thought I was a bit expensive for what we paid for the double room for 4.

The Ashbourne Hotel operates more like a budget airline experience, where additional charges apply for many basic amenities that other hotels typically include as part of the stay. This includes fees for bottled water, baby cribs, table fans, and even a late checkout of 30 minutes. The staff is minimal and often stretched thin, so expect limited room service. The building is quite old and shows signs of neglect and poor maintenance.

Could not get in my apartment

The hotel is good in concept, but let down by maintenance and provision of kitchen items. We had 2 rooms with kitchen with 2 people per room. 1 room had only 1 set of dishes and cutlery. Neither kitchen sink had a plug. No dishcloth or brush for washing dishes. Hotel provided tea bags, coffee, milk but no sugar. Body wash dispensers in shower were not refilled. Bathroom light in 102 had faulty motion sensor. One room had no bath towels provided. Bathroom door in 102 would not close. Decent, comfortable bed.

This venue has great potential and the new owner and team obviously have an exciting vision for the future. The hostess was exceptionally friendly and helpful and the breakfast (included) was very tasty. Attention to detail in the room could have been better. Carpet needed hoovering (and replacing) the bed hadn’t been made and although this was remedied, it looked thrown together. The loo seat was a bit ‘mobile’ and there was no hot water in the shower (apparently the boiler had tripped out). Despite all this, it was in a good location for us and a good price. We wish the team well with their continued improvements and hope it is a success.
