Given the price, we didn't have high expectations, but we were still very disappointed with our stay at this "accommodation." When you enter the hotel, you are greeted by a musty smell in the corridors, which they try unsuccessfully to mask with air fresheners, which does not make a good first impression. The main point, however, is that the pictures do not show the real condition of the rooms. There is mold in the corners of the shower and on the walls. The window cannot be closed properly, so there is a draught, and the towel rack simply falls off the wall when you hang something on it. I don't even want to start on the closet, which almost collapses when you open it, and a large hole in the floor, which has simply been covered with carpet and which you sink into when you walk over it, seems dangerous to me and the fact that there is no hot water in the shower is almost inhumane. The only positive aspect of the rooms is that the beds are very comfortable and seem new, but when you want to get up and touch the carpet with your feet, it's disgusting. Very little noise from the other guests, only when walking past the door. Housekeeping staff were great too, they chatted away. There's reception 24/7\. The area looks a little rough but everyone is really nice and there's plenty of food places around on just eat! To get it out of the way first off, the place is a bit run down and very no frills in its aesthetic. It's a disjointed amalgamation of buildings (thankfully with signs up) with stained stair carpets and patched up doors that really need a refurb ASAP. Having said all that, the room itself was fine. Clean, comfortable bed and hot water to shower - literally all we could ask for. It was very spacious as well - having been to more costly places that offer shoebox size rooms, it was a really nice change. Speaking of the price, it was really good value as well, so if you don't want to blow your budget staying in Manchester, this is a good option. There is no lift, so don't recommend with copious, heavy luggage, especially as some staircases are narrow. As it's in a residential area, there isn't much around, but there is a small convenience store next door, so you can easily grab a few supplies there.
