Clean building, friendly staff. Room felt like an older builkding, but overall things were fine.

Maybe it’s an American expectation, but there was no help with luggage from outside the hotel. Once inside, the service was fine, though nothing particularly memorable. The rooms were very standard. Comfortable enough, but nothing that made me feel I was staying somewhere special. The hotel does make an effort to provide entertainment for its guests, which I appreciated, although I didn’t take advantage of it. Breakfast was fairly standard, but there clearly weren’t enough servers to handle the number of guests. The staff seemed stretched, and the service suffered as a result. The grounds, however, are beautiful. I really appreciated the sculptures and gardens, and the views are lovely. There’s clearly been thought and care put into the outdoor spaces, and for me, they were the highlight of the property. I did appreciate that the windows in my room actually opened to let fresh air into the room, and that’s not always an option. Unfortunately, opening them meant listening to vans beeping and coming and going in the service parking lot just outside, late into the night and again early in the morning. So, while I appreciated the fresh air, the accompanying noise was less than ideal. All in all, I found the Montenotte slightly overpriced for what it offers. It’s a perfectly fine hotel with beautiful grounds and wonderful views, but the rooms and overall experience didn’t quite live up to the price. I didn’t dislike my stay, but I didn’t love it enough to return.
