George and Dragon Clifton

"We had another enjoyable stay overall at the George and Dragon with good beers available and an excellent dinner. The indifferent greeting from the young man on reception was not ideal however after a long journey travelling from Scotland but the helpful and indeed cheerful barman more than made up for it. Our room decor and furnishings were of a high standard but let down by a toilet seat that had split and become loose, used cotton buds in the bathroom bin, a shower control that was stiff to operate and the shower head was so loose that it kept falling back down the rail. There is inevitable traffic noise from 6 am onwards in the rooms at the front but the breakfast was excellent."

"This was our first stay at Green Vale Lodge and we are very pleased we booked. The location is great for everything, from hiking, sight seeing, towns and activities. The lodge itself has everything you need, the enclosed garden for our kids and dog was one of the main reasons we chose Green Vale and the hot tub was a plus! Would highly recommend this lodge and would look forward to booking again."

"Prachtig huis met goeie bedden en fijne douche. Keuken was prima alles was er.Heerlijk gewandeld op de hei en leuke uitstapjes gemaakt naar diverse dingen. Lowther Castle zijn we lopend gaan bezoeken. Winkeltje een dorp eerder had wel wat maar let goed op de houdbaarheid van product.Fantastisch verblijf gehad ook voor de kinderen. (Ook fijn dat er wifi was) Griet familie van Gool"

"Idyllic location and property! We had everything we could possibly need in the house, We really appreciated the coffee, tea and cookies at check-in. The kids loved seeing the bunnies and sheep that surrounded the property. The check-in process was very smooth and easy. So close to everywhere in the Lake District and easy day trips to larger cities like York or Blackpool. Lowther Castle is so close and a MUST with children. Would definitely stay here again."

"Two couples, stayed for four nights. Clean comfy and warm aided by the nice little wood burner. Two good pubs and a Michelin starred restaurant within easy walking distance. The pubs do tend to stop serving food early and in the case of Queens Head are not open all week so plan accordingly. This was in early Feb so no complaints about the pubs."

"Room wasn't great for the cost (was pretty small, but is limited because of the type of building), however the bathroom looked like it had recently been refurbished, and the room was clean. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very helpful."

"This was a short holiday for my husband and me, and our adult children. We had cosy fires every evening and some nice meals in the dining room and the area. Plenty of walks, plenty of shops in Penrith for buying supplies. Very clean and well equipped cottage. Thoughtfully decorated. Very quiet area. We will be back I am sure."

"Loved this little place, it had everything we could ever need. Even with all the snow we were comfy. Make sure you take slippers though as floors are stone. But we had a great time. We will Definitely be back. Our Dog had the best time, lots of fun in the snow."
