Located in new Chinese area, but adjacent to Potala Palace. Hotel is in good condition. But prices are very high (think Hong Kong levels) but with service standards far below. Very few staff in hotel, and very few can speak even basic English. Horizon Club very poor value. One staff person only. Cannot speak any English. Very basic food offering. St Regis might be a better option? It is located a bit out of the way in terms of sightseeing and restaurants, but the oxygen bar was so appreciated on our second night. The food in the hotel is a bit expensive, but the staff allowed us to create our own menu for snacks on the night of our arrival, and then provided us with a bit of a discount for our breakfast buffets. Very accommodating. Hotel was dreadful From the moment we checked in there were mistakes. We booked 2 rooms several month in advance. First they could not find more than 1 room. Despite request we were given 2 rooms on separate floors. Rooms were ok and large but old. Aircon could only heat and each day we had 26 degrees in the room to sleep in. When we told them room was too hot they told us just to open windows. Only you could not. Only housekeeping could open the windows. After asking for aircon 5 times we gave up! Staff spoke poor English and each day in restaurant we had to ask for the same thing 5 times before it arrived. I would not stay at this hotel.
