  • VIEWS of the LAKE from the LARGE BACK COVERED DECK! LAKE ACCESS FROM FLOATING DOCK with graduated swim ladder. PRIVATE!!!!!!!!!
    Sit on the large covered back porch and enjoy watching the geese and ducks while grilling and chilling. Large flat yard to park boats and cars. Easy access to 2 free boat ramps within a few miles of the house (Buddle Creek off Holloway Church Road and Wildlife Recreation Area Access for the big lake); High Rock Lake Marina close by for gas and supplies is open year round. Pontoon boat rentals available at the Marina May-Sept. (mol). Bring your toys and enjoy abundant lake fun. Safety: Please stay off the boat house roof, no diving. Tour area vineyards and breweries. Located close to Lexington is known for it's BBQ and locally made candy. Swim ladder available May-September (MOL); weather dependent.
    Comfortably sleeps 6; house is fully stocked. It has a regular coffee maker, w/d.

Lovely Dog Friendly Lakehouse!

Our stay was perfect. The house is very well stocked with more than everything we needed. The back porch overlooking the lake was so comfortable and PEACEFUL! We especially appreciated the doggy gates to keep our dogs safe on the porch.

Another wonderful stay

This was our second stay at Castaway Cottage. Lovely view of the lake in a rural, quiet subdivision. Our hosts, as always, attentive and accommodating. If you like getting up in the morning, relaxing with a cup of coffee and watching water-birds on the lake, this is the location for you.

Nice lake house

So nice to have a little lake house with a dock. We rented a pontoon from the marina. The kids had fun as well. Just enough space for our 7 people who came with us. Kitchen was well supplied and we cooked our meals. Thank you!

This was the BEST place that we have rented in North Carolina. The main reason for our trip was to hopefully find a new home in the surrounding areas. From the moment we arrived and went inside we knew this was truly going to be the perfect place to come home to each day. First let me say that the house is not lacking in any area. From having a great selection of dinnerware, cooking items such as pots and pans and frying pans and baking dishes, serving platters and bowls, dishware ,I can go on and on. Plenty of towels and bath items. The view from the expansive back deck is literally mind blowing whether you are sitting out there in the morning with your first cup of coffee and all of a sudden the sky starts dancing with magnificent colors from the sunrise or in the evening when the sun starts setting. The location of the house is only a few minutes away from the local food markets and stores and it’s only a short drive to downtown. This was the most enjoyable yet relaxed vacation we have had in a while. I have to say that we did accomplish our goal of finding a new home while we were there, and even though Castway Cottage isn’t that far away from our future home we plan on going back for a recharge kind of vacation when we need it. Great getaway!

Nice lakefront home, good size for our family of four. Very clean and well stocked in a quiet neighborhood. Enjoyed fishing, grilling and time with the family on the large covered deck. Lots of stairs going to the water and the stairs going up to 2 bedrooms were very steep, but not an issue for us. It would’ve been nice to have had working TVs in the bedrooms - mostly for the teenagers! Had a wonderful time overall and definitely recommend!

Castaway cottage

Nice home. The covered deck with a sitting area and a table for dining was a huge plus. We spent most of our time there or down on the dock. We had a wonderful time. The steps going upstairs are a bit steep and that information might need to be included in the description. They could be hard to navigate for the elderly or someone carrying a baby or toddler up

Great place!

We came down to celebrate my Mom's 85th birthday and this was perfect for our "home base!" Plenty of space for me, my brother and sis and law, and my niece. We were even able to have local family over for dinner. Very clean, everything we needed, and lots of plants to hang out and relax. Our only complaint would be the Nest thermostat; since it's run remotely it didn't always match our needs. Got warm on the downstairs bedroom at night. Overall though, we'd definitely stay again! Thanks!

Comfy and Spacious Lake House

Easy to find and check-in, and plenty of helpful information (and welcome gift!) provided by the hosts. The house was just as pictured and comfortably fit our combined families (7 people total). The neighborhood was very peaceful. We only stayed for a few days, but the house had everything we needed to feel right at home - full kitchen utensils and appliances, laundry, grill, and 3 bathrooms! The back deck was wonderful with so much seating and nice views of the lake yet plenty of privacy. We spent a lot of our time there! The dock was a long way down but the stairs had enough landings to make it easy enough going back up. It was also great sitting down there. The property owner responded quickly to the question we had and she was super helpful when we accidentally left a few things behind. We would definitely stay again for our next visit with family!
